Melanie's POV:Asher freaking Brooks. You have got to be kidding me!
This has got to be some sort of prank.
I burst out laughing into the phone, "A-Asher Brooks?" I say while gasping for air.
"Please, Ms. Cole I don't have much time. Keep in mind nobody can know about this. Not even your mother. In order for you to get your end of the bargain you must keep this between yourself and I." He states. I contain my laughter and feel a little weary. Could this be true? I mean, Asher is rich as hell and he is one rebellious teenager. It does make sense.
"I want to have a meeting. I need to have confirmation that this is a real deal and not some prank or scam." I tell him. I'm not stupid that stupid. This could be another one of the bad boys pranks to mortify me.
"Okay. Meet me at the Vertigo Glass House tonight at seven o'clock. A table will be reserved for two under the name Nash." He says as he hangs up the phone.
What the hell just happened? This really is crazy.
A part of me is hoping this isn't real. Seducing the bad boy of my school? A guy who is disgusted by the sight of me? What a joke.
Another part of me hopes this is real. This could be an incredible opportunity to help my family for the better. It could change Sam's future. He wouldn't have to go through a childhood like I went through.
I look at the time and see that it is five o'clock already. Time sure flies.
I am going to have to dress up for the meeting tonight because the Vertigo Glass House is not just some low income diner. It is a high end restaurant where only the rich eat. I've never been there obviously, but I must look the part.
I look into my closet to find nothing but scrubby cloths. The joy of having no money.
I head down stairs and see my mom cuddling with Sam on the couch reading him a story.
"Mom, do you have a nice outfit I could borrow?" I ask her.
"What for hunny?" She asks smiling curiously at me.
"Well, Sidney is bringing me to some sort of wrestling banquet and it's formal so I have to dress up." I lie. I hate avoiding the truth with my mom because we tell each other everything.
This is for a good reason, I tell myself.
"Of course sweetie. I'll show you what I've got." She says. She tells Sam that she'll be back in a few minutes and she leads me to her room.
"So, what kind of outfit are you looking for? Casual, formal.."
"I would say classy." I tell her a smile. We both look through her cloths.
"Oh! I have he perfect dress!" She exclaims while taring through her cloths faster.
She pulls out a very beautiful black dress that is literally jaw dropping. It is about knee length and has a slit on he left side by the leg. It has a glimmer to it when it hits the light.
"It's perfect Mom." I tell her mesmerized.
"I wore this for your grandmothers wedding back when I was in my twenties. It wouldn't fit me great now but I kept it anyways. Try it on!" She tells me.
I take the dress delicately and put it on while mom helps me with my zipper. I look into the mirror at myself in disbelief. I went from a homeless looking geek, to a stunning babe. I usually don't compliment myself, but it's insane what a dress can do.
