There are downsides to being the ego, ones that he would never want the others to know of, or rather, ones he himself is only vaguely aware of. He is easily tricked into believing things as well as forgetting things, one simple compliment makes his mind switch and forget about whatever he was previously thinking of and focus on that instead. He also feels a very small modicum of self-doubt with almost everything he does, due to a constant need to be the best at everything he does.

He wants, and to a point needs, that validation, even if it is still fake. Logan is, unfortunately, the only one of the light sides to know of these weaknesses within the ego. Even though he is the only light side to know,...the dark sides are well aware of it. That's why when he learned that Roman and Deceit were now in a romantic pairing, it made a pit form in his stomach; it gave him the most horrid and uneasy feeling. One could only describe it as pure fear and worry.

While Patton was happy that Roman was happy, and Virgil was relieved that now the prince would quit flirting with him. Logan remained silent, analyzing the new couple's behavior, while Roman's expression was filled with nothing but joy and pride, Deceit's read anything but.

It was very simple for Logan to see through the snake's facade that made his expression perfectly match Roman's, and see what was lurking underneath, Deceit's expression was one that was dripping with malicious intent, pure enmity, and just overall... Evil. Logan opened his mouth to speak, to reveal his true intentions, when he felt the words catch in his throat, his eyes quickly glanced back over to Deceit, who now had an incredibly apparent smirk that the others failed to notice as they were talking to Roman about something else at this point.

The compulsive liar raised his finger to his lips, as Logan, and only Logan, heard an incredibly discreet, "Shhhh..." It was then that he realized his powerlessness, his powerlessness to stop what he feared would happen, he hated being wrong, he loathed it with every fiber of his being, but, this time, he hoped he was... To his dismay, he was correct. The signs didn't begin right away, but once they did, Logan caught on incredibly quickly. Roman's normally bright and radiant smile now seemed to twitch ever so slightly at the edges, as if it was hurting him, he was tired almost all the time, but never seemed to want to go to sleep... He wouldn't even allow Remy to step in to help him sleep, and when he had free time, when he wasn't around Deceit, he was always in the imagination room, when Logan would try to check on him, the door would be locked and sometimes it was hidden, to where only the faint red outline of the door was visible... He never locked it before, and he certainly never hid it when he was inside.

Logan obviously knew something was wrong, he knew it had something to do with Deceit, but he didn't know exactly what was happening, not until five months after the two got together. While on his way to his incredibly vast library within his area of the Mindscape, he passed by the black door which lead to the backstage area of the Mind Palace Theatre.
