Maddie's POV
I sat nervously at lunch, looking anywhere, but in front of me. I noticed the stares and glares of everyone around the cafeteria. This was torture. I loved it when no one paid attention to me. Now, because of Thomas, everyone was looking at my table. I glanced up and nearly had a heart attack when I noticed Logan staring at me.
"What's wrong with you?" he asked.
"What are you talking about? Nothing's wrong with me," I said.
"Are you going to eat your lunch?" Doug asked. "Because if you aren't, I'm going to."
I pushed my tray towards him and he greedily took it. Pipe sighed and Logan glared at him.
"Can you not control your appetite? Gosh, you're like a pig."
"Hey! That's not nice," Doug said, not really paying attention to Logan. He was too busy eating.
"So, who're you guys? Do you know Maddie?" Thomas asked. "I'm Thomas by the way. I'm Madison's best friend."
"I'm Doug, and this is Pipe. We're Logan's best friends. And we just met Maddie yesterday, right?"
Doug looked at me and I smiled a little. He grinned. I could've guess what he was thinking. 'I did something good for Maddie'.
"How long have you known Logan?" Thomas asked.
"Why ask something like that?" Logan asked.
"Pipe's his childhood friend," Doug explained, ignoring Logan. "And I met Logan five years ago."
So he knew Logan when he knew me. How come he never said anything to me about Logan? I thought. But it was a good thing that I didn't know Logan during those times. I had a feeling that our relationship would've been different from now. Even though I don't know what our relationship is right now. I sighed, frustrated that this person could effect me this way. He's a troublemaker for goodness sake. I thought that I would stop interacting with them from now on.
But thanks to my wonderful friend (I was being sarcastic). Thanks to Thomas, this was getting ugly. And for some reason, I don't want to get rid of him in my life. Weird, I know. I haven't even spent my time with him, but I liked him. Especially how we reacted when our eyes first met at lunch.
I shivered, not wanting to think about it. And then, voices broke me out of my thoughts.
"It's the President!" a girl screamed.
Not again, I thought. He was searching the cafeteria when his eyes landed on mine and smiled. I rolled my eyes and looked away. I could hear girls squealing as he came closer to my table.
"Who the hell is he?" Pipe asked.
"The President," Thomas explained. "Everyone loves him since he's so good, except for Maddie and I. He also has a thing for Maddie."
"Please don't say that again," I said, a bit disgusted. "He does not have a thing for me. He likes to bother me, that's all."
"Right," Thomas said, not believing me. "That's why he's coming straight here."
"Madison," the annoying voice said and I jumped.
I deliberately ignored him until he tapped me on my shoulder.
"Don't ignore me. I need your help with something."
"I think someone as smart as you can figure it out without the help from me, President."
"You know that I don't like you calling me that. Call me Jake."
"And you know that I don't like you talking to me. I'm trying to eat my lunch. Please leave," I said nicely.
He finally noticed who I was eating lunch with, or the lack of lunch since Doug was still eating my food, not paying any attention to him. I didn't notice Logan's expression until now and my heart dropped. He was angry, like he was going to kill someone. He was looking at the President with cold eyes that gave me the chills and the President saw that too. He backed up a little.
"Who's this?" he asked me.
"President, this is the new student, Logan. The principal's son."
"Oh," was his reply. "Well I'll see you later then Madison."
He left and Logan watched him closely. This moment was like predator and prey. Logan, the predator and the President, the prey. But what was the reason that Logan hated the President?
Logan's POV
I have never felt such hatred for anyone before. Of course, this wasn't the first time that I glared at someone to death, like how Doug and Pipe explained how I looked like when I was, but all I could imagine was him, kissing Madison on the cheek. I wanted to punch him right there and right now, but with just one look on Madison's face, I stopped myself and tried to calm myself down.
When the so called President left, my anger vanished, but I could see it in her eyes. She saw me and was scared. I stood up and walked away, feeling horrible for some unknown reason. I heard the guys yelling my name, but I ignored it. I needed to leave. I needed to get rid of her face, the face that was scared of me, like how everyone else was. I punched the wall and instantly felt the pain on my knuckles. It was bleeding.
"Why are you injuring yourself? a voice asked while touching my hand.
I flinched, something that I never do. What was wrong with me today?
"Why are you here?" I asked.
Madison looked at me and smiled. Surely that smile could melt my heart. Ugh, what crap am I thinking about?
"You just ran off. We were worried so I went to look for you."
"Thanks for the concern, but you can leave now."
"I can't. Where are you going?" she asked me when I walked away.
"Shh," I said, putting my finger to my lips. "I'm ditching."
"You can't," She said, pulling my arm.
"Don't touch me," I said, a bit harshly but she didn't look affected.
"You have to go back," she said, pulling me and again, I was surprise by her strength, but I was stronger than her and I continued to walk to my motorcycle. I smiled, amused as she was trying so hard to bring me back.
"You'll get in trouble," she said, trying to convince me.
"I always get in trouble," I reminded her. "Why do you care?"
"Why not?"
"Why should?"
"Why can't?"
I sighed, stopping this immature game. And then I got this awesome idea. She looked at me like she knew what I was thinking.
"What are you planning?" she asked, letting go of my arm.
"What makes you think I'm planning anything?"
She backed away from me and I stepped forward, grabbing her arm.
"What are you doing?" she asked, alarm but not afraid.
"I just got an idea. I'll get in trouble, but not when I have you."
"What do you mean?"
I smirked. "You're ditching with me."
She didn't have time to realize what I said. I grabbed her waist and threw her over my shoulder, carrying her to my motorcycle.
"Why are you so heavy?" I asked.
"Let go of me!" she yelled and kicked. "And I'm not that heavy."
I smirked, amused and put her on the seat. "Here," I said, giving her the helmet. "You haven't forgotten how crazy my driving is, right?"
"I'm getting off," she said, but I already started the engine.
"You can," I said. "But it's too late."
I drove and instantly, I felt her arms around my stomach, her cheek pressed against my back.
"You idiot!" she said.
I hid a smile, liking the feeling too much.
