Chapter Eleven

Alex's P.O.V

I have been in Mirinia for twelve days. Michael had us married the day I got there. I have to sleep with him, and I hate it. He makes sure he gets as close to me as possible. Today there was a ceremony. I didn't know what for, but his mother was so excited.

I am in the bathroom when I here him call me into the bedroom. I brave my self, but all he does is pour us drinks. I see him slip something into my drink. I don't care, but I secretly pray it's poison.

He calls me over, and hands me the drink.

"Drink this. It calms the nerves."

"Hm."

I take one long gulp. But instead of dying, I feel tingly.

"Look at me." he says.

I look up.

"What?" I ask, annoyed.

"How- What-"

"WHAT?"

"It didn't work..."

"What didn't-"

Before I can finish, Michael hits me over the head with a broom handle.

I'm in a giant hourglass, filled with white sand. There are drops of red in it, but I have a strange feeling it's not colored sand.

Michael is standing in front of me, frowning. He looks angry.

"Okay, so I'm obviously not getting anywhere with you, Alex. So I've decided to play a little  game with 'your boys'. I've sent them a riddle. If they can decipher it in time, you can all leave. If not, you will die."

I shudder at the way he says you. I realize I am wearing dark blue. A simple dark blue dress.

I also realize I am still wearing Toby's necklace.

It is dark blue, coincidentally. He bought it for my fourteenth birthday. It has a simple, silver chain and a dark blue gem dangling from the center. It gives me comfort.

Please, boys, come save me.
