Chapter Twelve

Toby's P.O.V.

While the Doctor and I yell at each other, I notice a small piece of paper fly into the TARDIS. I open it to see what it says. As I quickly scan over the paper, I call the Doctor over to look at it.

"Ugh, what do you want n-"

"Shut up and read this."

"Don't you tell me to shut u-"

I interrupt him by thrusting the piece of paper at him, and he reads it out loud.

"To whom ever it may concern,

I have Alexandra. The only way to get her back is to solve the riddle I have provided you below:

We have so little of it, and ask for it evermore.

What she is trapped in is a fraction of it and more.

The second half is made out of sand.

Heated to heat no living thing can withstand.

You have one hour, much less than a day,

Now discover what she is held in, or she will pay.

"Well?" I ask.

"Well what?"

"What's the answer?"

"Hmm... well..." the Doctor says, looking back at the riddle. "It says ,'We have so little of it'... hmm... well, we always want money, and ask for it, but... hmmm... okay to the next part, we'll string them together. 'Made of sand'... 'Heated'... Heated sand... that makes-"

"GLASS!" I shout.

"Right, so money wouldn't fit. Hmm... what else? Well..." He screws up his face. "Wait... TIME! Time-glass, that doesn't make sense either..."

"It says,'fraction'."

"A fraction of time... I suppose he's talking about intervals... Second glass... Minute Glass-"

Then it clicked. Alex was trapped in an- "HOURGLASS!"

"She's trapped in an hourglass?"

"I guess..."

"It must be on that planety looking thing."

He was right- it was strange looking. It looks sphere like, but is transparent.

"Well, lets go then."
