"is this a date i see between india gold, my best friend and the weirdest kid in school, peter parker?" chesney, india's best and pretty much only friend teased.
"shut up, chesney. don't be mean." india yanked her drink from her best friend's grip and chesney blew kissing faces towards india. signaling that india and peter would be kissing each other soon.

as she sat back down peter laughed.
"and why am i being laughed at?" india sipped her coffee.
"that just seems like such a complicated drink."

india set her phone on the table and sighed a bit. peter noticed but wasn't sure if he should say anything, as they were still just getting to know each other.
"are you ok india?"
"yeah, just family things." india responded and immediately changed the subject.
"so i say we use mlk and john f kenedy. mrs. holland said we could use hero or heroes and i think they are similar in their political views." india had completely changed the subject and peter didn't know her well enough, so he just went along with it.
"peter! peter!" india and peter both turned their heads to the person calling out peter's name.
it was nolan james, peter's best friend since elementary school. also what seemed to be peter's only friend in high school.
"oh hi india!" nolan addressed the young girl as well.
india waved as peter got up to talk to his best friend.
"we're working on a project, dude." peter tried to explain to nolan, but that wasn't nolan's concern.
"you remember the thing with the thing, you've gotta go." peter's expression changed and he grabbed his bag, then started to run out the door.
"i'm sorry india, we can work on this tomorrow! i'll text you later!"
after peter and nolan's departure from the coffee shop india stood there very confused. "what was that about?" chesney had walked from behind the counter to her friend.
"actually i have no clue." india replied
"i'm off in ten minutes. sleepover?" chesney put the weird situation away.
"yes please. titus left me money so we should order pizza and watch every scary movie i own." india returned to her table to gather her belongings.
"gotta love friday nights." chesney said, basically implying that india was her only friend and instead of partying and getting drunk, she was with her best friend eating and watching scary movies.
india and chesney returned to india's apartment. "you call for the pizza, i'm gonna shower really quick." india set her belongings down and threw chesney the house phone.
"large cheese with pineapple?" chesney raised a brow
"chesney, pineapple does not go on pizza. you're never going to change my mind." india rolled her eyes and closed the bathroom door.
