It was 5 in the evening and I had everything ready!

I called Cole but his phone was switched off

So I left a text

Me - I have something fun for us to do
Cole - Nah, don't feel like it
Me - You don't even know what it is yet!
Cole - Still
Me - Ughhh!
I'm getting into my car and I give you 5 seconds to get the hell out of your bed!
Cole - ughhh! Okay!okay! I'm coming

"We've been driving for sooo loonggg, where are you taking me?!" He complained, "maybe if you stopped complaining we'd get there faster" I answered. He laughed " you know you sound like my mom".

"That's it, we're here!" I announced. I parked in the lot, getting a good spot pretty near the gate of....

Drumroll please...!!!

Rosewood public park!!!

"Yayy!!!" I said, taking the picnic basket out of the boot. "Uhh..., Why are we here??" He asked, looking at me weirdly. "You'll see!" I answered, cheekily.

We had been walking in silence for about 15 minutes surrounded by autumn coloured trees when a big and red oak tree came before us. I flopped down on the green grass looking up at Cole. His mouth was open. "Oh my god!" He said "is this the same one from when we were kids?!" "Yep" I said, smiling from his reaction. "Sit down!" I said and so he did

I opened the basket. "Oh no" I said, catching Coles attention as he was staring at a couple making out behind a tree. "What?!" He said turning around, suddenly paying attention. "I think..." I said "that... I made your favourite food!!!" I shouted, taking a huge chunk of homemade lemon cake. "Lizzy? Why are you doing this for me?" "What do you mean?!, You're my best friend! And I hate seeing you sad. If you want you can talk to me about it". I raised my eyebrows, waiting him to say something. He sighed, " we're done! She just told me that we weren't right for eachother and that she found someone else". He looked down. "I'm so sorry, I really wish I could help" he nodded "just know that you can tell me anything, okay?" "Yep!".
After finishing everything Cole lay down in my lap looking up at the tree "sometimes" he said softly "I wish the world wasn't so complicated". After saying this, he drifted off into a peaceful sleep. I sighed wondering how lucky I was too have such an amazing friend. ❤️

About 45 minutes later I shook Coles head slightly. "Huh?" He said, still a little groggy "wake up sleepyhead". He got up "why did you let me sleep for so long?" He asked, looking upset. "You looked very peaceful in your sleep so I though...". "Never mind, let's just get home, kay?" "Yeah, sure" I agreed "it is getting late after all"

Cole looked so much more happier on the ride home. "Have a good day?" I asked, as the car stopped in front of his house. "You betcha!" He said sleepily. "Bye" he said as he was getting out of the car.

As soon as I got home I fed daisy (the pup). I went to my room and texted Cole

Me - good night ❤️
Cole - thanks for today, gn  ❤️ cya at school!
