(bzzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz) "Hey babe! Are we still on for tonight?"
You quickly check your phone and see the text message from your boyfriend, Carter. You automatically smile at his text message and respond within seconds.
"Totally! I can't wait." your message was sent successfully. You lie on your bed waiting patiently for Carter to respond.
(bzzzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzzzz) "See you at seven ;)", responds Carter.
You instantly get up from your bed. You turn on your radio and start dancing your way to the restroom to freshen up. You intricately brush and floss your teeth. You take off your pajamas and toss them, letting them land anywhere in the restroom. You reach for the shower knobs and take a lukewarm shower.
When you're are finished, you check your phone and see you have a missed call from your best friend, Janet. You and Janet have been best friends since you were in diapers (literally.)
You dry off and slip into a new pair of pajamas. You sit on your bed and return Janet's phone call. The phone rings twice and Janet quickly answers.
"Hey Janet!", you're rudely interrupted.
"I have something urgent to tell you! Are you busy?", she says.
"No, not at all. What's going on? Are you alright?", you answer.
Janet sighs, " There's no other way to tell you this, but Carter is cheating on you."
There's a long pause
"Are you still there?", says Janet
You feel your face get hot and you can't believe what you just heard.
"Are you serious? Janet please tell me you're joking?!"
You can hear Janet sigh again, "Nope, I'm telling the truth. I just saw him with another girl. They were walking out some fancy resturant called 'The Hot Spot.' Sounds pretty cheesy if you ask me. At first I thought it was you! She kind of looked like you, but you don't dress preppy."
You try to hold back your tears, but you felt that knot in your throat and you let go, "Janet! He's cheating on me. Today marks the day that we've been together for eight years. This isn't happening to me. Tell me this is a dream!"
Janet starts to get choked up and clears her throat, "No babe, I wish I could tell you it's all a dream. I'm so sorry."
"Where are you at anyways?!", you ask her.
"I went to go get us some breakfast from McDonald's. I'm on my way back to the apartment.", she quickly responds.
"Thank you", you smile while the tears are coming down your cheecks. "I'm not hungry, but thank you. I'll see you when you get here."
You hang up on Janet before you two can exchange goodbyes.

You lie on your bed in disbelief, but you know Janet wouldn't lie to you. You turn to your side and look at the cute picture of your soon to be ex-boyfriend. Your eyes flood with tears once again. You sit up on your bed, grab the picture and throw it to the wall. The glass shatters and you feel as if your heart has done the same.
