"Time to get the fuck outta here!!" Shouted my best friend and co-worker Bridgette , as we both ran to the elevator, heading to the staff lounge floor.
It's 6pm , which indicates the end of our shift. All I'm thinking about right now is going home, taking off these hot ass clothes and walk around my house half-naked.
"Ugh! I can't wait to ly down in my sweet bed!"
' Girl same' Bridgette agreed.
The elevator dinged at the 6th floor and we proceeded to gather our things and head out to the parking lot.
'Rae are you going to that science dinner thing that Mr. Stark was telling us about ? '
"Nah, you?'
'No girl, Marcus is not gonna be home tomorrow and I ain't got nobody to babysit JJ' - Bridgette went silent for a moment . ' Rae I think you should make an effort to go tho"
I looked at Bridgette with a stern look but continued to walk in silence .
'You don't wanna go righ-'
"NO Bridgette" I said getting annoyed.
'Bitch you never go any-fucking-where! Even if it's something to do with work!"
I rolled my eyes as my best friend scolded me like a mother with a troubled teenager.
'You need to come outta that dark ass house and let the wind blow on yo ass !
"Girl whatever " I dismissed.
We both got to our cars which were parked next to each other. I was about to get into my car, when I looked and met Bridgette standing on the opposite side, staring at me with a ''motherly concerned" look on her face.

'OK.....call me later , K?' Says Bridgette as she got into her car.
"OK bye babe!" I waved as she drove off in her car.

As I unlocked my door to enter my house my fuzzy corgi friend Loki greeted me, wagging his tail and jumping on my legs.
"Hey bubba! Did you miss mommy?" I gestured to him -scratching behind his ears.
Running up the stairs to change into more comfortable clothing aka a big t-shirt and just my panties, I plopped down in front of the TV in my living room, which was showing the looney tunes show, while sipping on a glass of red wine and munching on cheese and crackers.
2 HOURS LATER
I jumped up looking at the clock, trying to gather my thoughts as I realized I had fallen asleep on my couch. While I was asleep, I keep thinking about what Bridgette had told me earlier. She was right. I hardly ever socialized or leave the house anymore, and it was taking a toll on ,my mental health and my social life . Suffering with an abusive past- both in childhood and adulthood was the reason why I kept to myself and tried to focus more on my career as a doctor. Howeber, I am starting to realize that staying bound to my house wasn't going to solve anything.
Glancing at the clock again, which read 11:30pm. "Rae, you are making a mistake. This dinner / conference can open up so many opportunities and benefits. Do not let this slip through your fingers". I spoke to myself in a thought. Running up the stairs to my office , I grabbed my MacBook, to RSVP for the dinner / conference before it's too late.
