The New Girl

Chapter 4

After a while, I headed home. It was only about 11:00 p.m. My mom had to get her sleep so I didn't even try to bother her. The walk was only about 15-20 minute walk anyways. 

By the time I got home it was 11:28 so I decided to go to bed. I fell asleep thinking about how this week had been. I enjoyed it. I made a friend, and have a crush on the guy who every girl likes. But no need to worry. He barely notices me anyway. And before I knew it I was asleep.

I woke up early in the morning for some reason. I got dressed, not my party clothes though. I went downstairs and was about to make some eggs and bacon. Before I started to make them I went upstairs and went to see my mom was still here and I was going to ask her if she wanted any. When I got up there I knocked.

"What do you want?" She sounded like she was mad.

"Can I come in, mom?" I asked

"I don't care," she said with an attitude. 

I open the door and walk in and shut the door softly. It looks like she had a hangover. Again, for the third time this week. 

I try to keep calm, but instead, I go off on her.

"Mom! Are you serious?! I can't believe you right now!" I yell

"Will you stop yelling I have a headache!" She yells back

"My point exactly! Just because dad left doesn't mean you need to get drunk every single night! I'm sick of it!" I yell even though she said not to.

She looks like she is about to cry so I leave the room.  I went up there to ask her if she wanted breakfast but instead, I yelled at her. 

I put all of the ingredients away and leave.  I don't know where I'm going but I do know I need to get out of the house until later. I call Sapphire but she isn't answering, so I go to the little diner down the street.

I walk in and the, looks like only waitress in there said, go take a seat.

"Hey sweetie, what would you like?" Says the waitress

"Um, I don't know, I'm kind of new to this town," I say

"Well, then I will give some time. Be back in 5 minutes sweetie" She says with such a sweet voice.

I look over the menu and when I decide what sounds good I wait for her to come back and while i'm waiting I look out the window. Just then I see Sapphire and a girl with her. I think she goes to our school. After a minute when I can get a clear visual I recognize her. Her name is Nicole and I think she is lesbian. Sapphire has been hanging out with her a lot. I wonder if they are good friends.

"Have you figured what you wanted yet sweetie?" She says

"Huh, oh, yeah I have. I would like early bird special, with sunny side up eggs."

"Ok sweetheart," She says

After she leave's I go back to looking at Sapphire and Nicole. They are just standing there talking. So I go on my phone and check Jax's Instagram. And it says he is in a relationship. Not only with someone, I know, but my ex-best friend. So, I throw my phone onto the booth and look at Sapphire again. Oh my god. They just kissed! I mean I don't mind, but I've never had a friend that was gay or lesbian! 

The waitress comes back and sets my food down on my table. 

"Here you go sweetie," she says.

"Thank you," I say without even looking at her. 

I slowly eat my food. I eat about half of it then I pay and leave. I walk right past Sapphire and Nicole. 

"Hey!" Sapphire says

I slowly turn around and say "Hey Sapphire,"

I stand there awkwardly. 

"So, me and Nicole, wait you know Nicole, right?" Says Sapphire

"Yeah, I know her." I turn towards Nicole and say "Hey"

"Hi!" she says with such a enthusiastic voice, just like Sapphire. 

"So, back to what i was saying, me and Nicole are going to a movie before the party tonight. Wanna come?" Sapphire offers. 

I think about it, but then it hits me. Nicole is coming to the party tonight and they are dating. And i'm suppose to be going to the  party with Sapphire. And I was already pissed so I didn't even think about before I went off on them. 

"Wait! So your telling me that Nicole is coming to the party with us?! Like seriously? Am I just suppose to be a third wheel or something!?" I scream

Nicole just stands there. 

"Yeah, Nicole is coming. But we weren't going to make you a third wheel. And how do you even know that we are dating?" She says with a little anger in her voice but trying to stay as calm as possible. 

"I know because I saw you guys kiss out here while I was eating." I point to the dinner. 

"Oh." They both say. 

"Yeah, and i'm sorry for snapping. Just I was holding a lot of anger in. Again sorry." I say 

"Its fine." Says Sapphire.

"Um, i'll see you guys at the party." I say

"Bye" They say

As I walk away I think of how rude I was and I had no really good reason just to snap on them like that.  I get to my block and just sit on the curb in front of my house. 

I finally go inside and I set an alarm for an hour before the party and I take a nap.
