I woke up laying on my side, Sam's back facing me, my arm around her.
I love you...
I sat up and Sam rolled onto her back. She looked up at me with a smile on her face. "Good morning."
"How'd you sleep?" I asked.
She shrugged. "Good, I guess. You make me feel safe." She sat up and stretched. "I think I'm going to go home today..."
"You sure?"
She nodded. "Yea... I have homework. Can you bring me home?"
"Right now?" She nodded. "Don't you want to eat breakfast first?"
"Yea... I guess so..." Judging by her voice, I could tell something was bothering her.
"Is something wrong?" My voice was laced with concern.
"Nope," she said quickly. "I'm just a little tired. That's all." I didn't believe her, but I knew pushing it would only make it worse.
I made a small breakfast of eggs and toast. She ate slowly, and didn't finish her breakfast. "I don't feel good... I'm sorry."
"It's fine. Go get your stuff together. I'll clean up." She went upstairs and I cleaned up the dishes. Sam came back by me and hugged me. "What's up?"
"I love you," she said sounding like she was about to burst into tears. She didn't seem to want to let go. "I wish I didn't have homework, otherwise I'd love to stay here another night."
"You could go get your backpack and do your homework here," I suggested.
She shook her head. "No, I'd rather do it at home." Something seemed off, but I didn't want to push her if she didn't want to tell me.
"Ok..." I sighed.
I brought her home then decided I'd play video games for the rest of the day. Minnie was laying next to me on my bed.
7pm
My phone started ringing. Sam... "Hey, Sam."
She was crying, "I'm... I'm sorry... I love you... I... I umm..."
"Sam, what's wrong?" I knew something had been bothering her. Maybe I should've pushed it...
She mumbled something but I couldn't catch her words.
"Sam... Sam!" She hung up the phone.
Fuck! I have to go check on her...
I ran to my car and drove to her house. I knocked on the door.
No response.
I waited a couple minutes but she still didn't come to the door. I opened it.
"Sam!" She didn't answer me. Shit. Where is she?
I checked everywhere in the house, but she was nowhere to be seen. I kept calling her name, but she never answered. I checked her room, but she wasn't there. I went down to the basement. Still no sign of her.
The bathroom door was closed. I knocked. "Sam! Sam are you in there?"
No response.
"Sam! Please answer me!" I couldn't hear her. I kicked open the door. My heart shattered.
