Lola's POV
The headmasters room was cold and dark. His desk was scattered with 'important' documents. I was stood still.......Frozen.
I felt a warm hand on my shoulder slowly rubbing to stop me from trembling.
"Now, Lola are you going to tell me what's been happening?" Mr Williams spoke in a calm voice. Mr Williams is our head teacher, he's quite tall with greyish hair and speaks with a deep Scottish accent. I say he's around 50.
"N....n.....nn...no!" The tears begin to form in my eyes.
"Lola, it's okay you're in safe hands." He says looking deep into my eyes, knowing something is wrong.
"You don't understand!" Avoiding anymore eye contact, I look away. I know if I look at him I'll just break.
"Lola, we can help you get through this, but we can't if you don't tell us anything." His soothing voice is to hard to lie to.
"But...if I tell you he will kill me." The tears are streaming down now.
I can feel his hand on my shoulder once again, slowly rubbing circles. Damn it this man is good. I can't resist it, I have to tell him.
'NO! LOLA YOU WILL REGRET IT!' My conscience screams.
"Well, it all started when I was born. My mother had the decision of either keeping me as a baby, resulting to her to die, or we both would die. My father didn't know what the doctors said but she decide to give birth to me. Ever since I came out of the hospital without my mother. Dad has seen me as the cause of her death. He quickly became depressed, started drinking and taking drugs. He says I look like her, that's why he couldn't kill me. Every time he becomes drunk, he leans towards me and.....and.....and" I can't breath this is to much. I have said to much. Lifting my hands to my face, wiping away the tears, I collapse to the floor. My knees must have given in.
Mr Williams helped me to a chair. Then sat down himself, opposite me.
"Did he hurt you?" He said slowly as if he was in shock.
I take a deep breath, I pause for a long time trying to speak but nothing. Nothing came out. Instead I slowly began to nod. Mr Williams eye's looked like they were about to pop out of his head.
"Well Lola can we get you to write a statement down for the police?"
"NO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! HE WILL KILL ME! OR ILL GO INTO CARE! I TRUSTED YOU! YOU CAN'T TELL ANYONE! PLEASE." I practically begged. My voice was so loud, it cause Mr Williams assistant Joan, to run in.
"Is every thing alright?" She questions staring at me.
"Yes, fine Joan." Mr Williams reassures.
"Okay, I'll leave you to it then?" Her eyes still placed on me.
"Thankyou." Once Joan had left Mr Williams turned to face me.
"Lola dear, you have to tell the police, or it will carry on, you want this to stop don't you?" He takes a long breath and continues, "and about going into foster care, we can find relatives?"
"No I don't want it to carry on, you would have to be insane for that! But I don't think I have any relatives left."
"Right, so are you going to write this statement down or not?"
"Okay, what will happen afterwards?"
"I don't know, but an officer will come and speak to you."
All afternoon was spent writing my statements on what happened, how many times. Then a police officer came to speak to me asking loads of questions.
-
The police officer insisted that I went to hospital to check if anything was damaged or broken.
Tomorrow my dad comes home. He will find out I told someone. Is today my last day?
