Protest

Chapter 4.

Ren's POV

I woke up to a loud thud, I sat up in bed it was still pitch black outside. I jumped out of bed, slipped my knee high converse on, and went into the living area. I heard whimpering, from outside. "What happened?" James said, I shrugged. Liam came from behind him, "Where's Ranji?" He asked. My eyes widened, I sprinted out the door. I ran out of the alley, I saw a man with a gun to Ranji's head. I let out a deep growl, he pointed the gun at me. I continued walking towards him, "Pull the trigger, I dare you." I snarled. "So this is the infamous Ren I've heard about. What happened to not being phased by anything?" He said, of course he's one of the school bullies. "That's me, fuck with the people I love, and I'll murder you, no hesitation." I snarled monotonously. "And what would you do if I shot this wimp right here?" He said, mockingly. "Kill you." I said, Liam stepped in front of me. I pushed him out of the way, "You're not getting shot again." I said. He pointed the gun, back at Ranji's head. I took another step, he pointed it at me. Thank God I have long legs, I kicked the gun out his hand he let go of Ranji to grab his wrist, where I kicked. He ran to me, I looked at him softly. He ran to his dad who was behind me. He got into a fighting stance, "This is between me and you." I said. He threw a punch, I stepped aside and elbowed his ribcage. He turned and threw another punch, I grabbed his fist, punched him in the face, and kneed him in the stomach. I grabbed his shoulder, and kicked his ankle from behind. He fell, I put my foot on his chest, "Ready, to give up?" I asked, unphased. He nodded, I stepped off him. He walked away, "If I see you here again, I'll murder you." I said. I walked over to Liam, James, Ranji, and his dad. His dad shook my hand, "I can't thank you enough." He said. "Don't thank me at all, I'd do anything to protect the people I care about." I said with a wink. Ranji hugged me, he was in tears. "What's wrong?" I said kneeling down, "T-Thank you." He sobbed. "Of course." I said, wiping his tears away. "No, you were willing to die for me." He said, hugging me tighter. I kissed his forehead, "You're worth more than my life." I said. He shook his head and hugged me tighter, "I love you, Ranji. You guys are my family." I said. He sobbed into my shoulder, I petted the back of his head. He let go of me, Liam held his hand. We all went back inside, Ranji was trying to stop sniffling. Liam hugged me, "You're the bravest person I've ever met." He whispered in my ear, making me blush. We all went back to sleep.

3rd Person POV

Ren kept tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. He slipped on his knee high converse, he stepped outside of his room. He walked into the living area, he looked out the window at the very top of the wall. It was raining. He stepped outside, he stood under the tiny awning. He looked up and closed his eyes, he sniffed the air. He always said how much he loves the smell of a rainy night, he checked his phone. 12:56 A.M. Monday April, 12. 2078. "School in 4 hours." He groaned. He sat down, under the awning. He stared up at the sky, a tear ran down his cheek. He cried silently, he eventually fell asleep against the wall.

Four hours later

Phone in hand, Ren slept against the wall of his hideout. His alarm went off, he dropped his phone and jumped up. He realized it was just his phone, he picked it up and checked the time 4:30 A.M. He went inside, he walked into his room and threw his phone on the bed. He grabbed some clothes and left his room to take a shower.

Ren's POV

I walked into the guys shower room, I saw three out of the ten showers were taken. Two were being used, and I'm pretty sure someone was having sex in the third one, nothing new. I stepped in the shower and stripped down. I turned on the water and wet my body. I washed my hair quickly, I stared into the abyss for a solid thirteen seconds. I snapped back to reality, turned off the water, dried off, wrapped my towel around my waist, and stepped out of the shower. I looked in the mirror, I saw someone come out of another shower behind me, it was Daniel. He also had his towel around his waist. I fixed my hair Daniel blushed and stepped back behind the curtain. I smiled, I walked over to the curtain. "Dan?" I said, no reply "I'm gonna open the curtain." I warned. I opened it, and saw Daniel, he was pretending to finish wrapping his towel around his waist. "Why are you hiding from me?" I asked, "I-I wasn't." He stuttered. Then it hit me, he's self-conscious about his body. "Dan." I walked towards him, he backed up and ran into the wall. I continued walking towards him, I put my hands on his hips. "Are you self-conscious?" I asked, he nodded weakly. I pulled him to me, "Why?" I whispered. "I-I don't know." He stuttered, "I'm just so used to being told I'm ugly. I didn't want you to think so too." He said, sadly. I looked him up and down, he has a nice ass body and a beautiful face. "Don't let them fuck with your head." I said, I pointed to the side of his head. "You've got a banging body," I paused, "and a nice ass." I finished, spanking him gently. He blushed, I pulled him into another hug. I backed away, and stepped outside the shower and put my clothes on. I wore tight black jeans, with thin rips on the knees and upper thigh. I put on a dark blue long sleeve shirt, the sleeves went passed my knuckles. Lastly a blue and black flannel around my waist. I walked back into the hallway, I sighed, it always feels so satisfying after taking a warm shower, to step back into the cold air outside the shower room. At least I think so. I started down the hall all of the sudden, "HALELOO LADY!!!!" I heard yelled from the end of the hall. I turned to see Shangela LaQuifa Wadley. I laughed and walked into my room. I wrapped Liam's bracelet around my wrist, slipped into my knee high converse, and I grabbed my bag. As I reached for the doorknob I froze, I looked at my palm. I saw a large scar, I lifted up my shirt and saw a large scar running from one side of my stomach to the other. I shook my head and left. It was almost pitch black out. I checked the time 4:56 A.M. I had a while, I walked to a Starbucks. It started to rain, I stepped inside. I walked up the counter and ordered, I sat down. I heard the bell, signaling that the door opened, I didn't bother to look at who it was. A few minutes later, the person walked up to me. "Hey babe." He said quietly, I looked up and smiled. It was Nate. He handed me my drink. He sat down across from me. He leaned over the table and kissed me. I smiled and took a sip of my coffee. I crossed my legs, after a while of chatting quietly we left. We walked outside into the rain, Nate wrapped an arm around my shoulder. We walked in the rain, I love rain. We finally got to school, we walked to the courtyard. We saw our friends sitting under the awning. They saw us and came over, "Why don't guys have an umbrella you're soaked!" Lizzie exclaimed. I shrugged, "You know how much I love rain." I said. After a while, we walked in. We split up for classes. I walked down a hall to math, passing the guy I saw last night. He shot me a dirty look, I growled back. I walked into Mrs. Porsco's room. I walked to my seat and saw more equations on the board. I groaned, I sat there until she passed out our papers. Simple math, I sighed in relief. I finished quickly and turned it in. I sat at my desk, bored out of my mind. The bell rang I jumped up, and immediately walked out of the room. I walked into Mr. Krynto's room, I sat down and said nothing the class period. I walked into
Mrs. Eucalypt's room a second late. She said nothing. I sat down and zoned out, I heard a ringing in my ear and voice, "Ren, Earth to Ren ." Mrs. Eucalypt said. I thanked her and left. I got to Mrs. Nelson's class, Nate kissed me. We went to lunch afterwards, English. Nate wrapped his arm tightly around my waist, we sat down. Lammme. After that PE, we ran a mile, my time was 5:56. Lastly, art. We finished our base drawings today. After class everyone left, Mrs. Deinter told me to stay afterwards. She gave me a pamphlet, I opened it, an art competition. "What do you think?" She asked nicely. "I'll think about it." I said smiling, she winked as I left. I ran up behind Nate and jumped on his back. To my surprise he held my legs, keeping me from falling. I got down, we started walking. "Hey, Cass what did your. What did your parents want to talk to you about, on Friday?" I asked. "You." She said annoyed at her parents, "Shit like, 'You watch out young lady, you never know what he'll do." She said mocking her dad. I chuckled, "He's right, you never what I'll do." I said, high kicking into a death drop. Lizzie cringed, "I still don't understand how you haven't broken something yet." She said, weirded out. I shrugged, "I have managed to get my gut cut open, though." I said with a chuckle. As soon as I said that, I regretted it. Everyone was confused, except Nate, who was frowning. I walked backwards, and lifted my shirt revealing my scar. Travis cringed, Beau covered his mouth, Cass looked away, Lizzie gagged, and Nate looked at the ground, still frowning. "Come on guys, we've seen worse." I said turning around. "Not to someone we love." Cass said, hugging me. We kept walking, I kissed Nate's cheek, "I'm fine I promise." I said, softly, a weak smile on my face. I saw tears in his eyes, I stopped him and hugged him. "Sometimes it feels like I'm bad at protecting you." He whispered, wrapping his arms around me. "You're the only protector I could ask for." We continued walking, we dropped Cass and Trav off at their houses. I kissed Nate, "I love you, so much." I said walking into the alley. I got to my room, took off my bracelet, changed, and fell asleep.
