I walk into Johnson's looking forward to seeing Ryan and there he is sitting in the seat in front of me. He's reading some paper and his eyebrows are furrowed in agitation. I walk by and tap him on the shoulder to get his attention. As I sit down he gives me the once over and I smile because I purposely wore my purple skinny jeans make my butt look absolutely perfect. I see the appreciation in his eyes and my heart skips a beat.
"Whatcha doing?" I ask looking over his shoulder at the paper he was staring at earlier. He notices what I'm looking at and automatically crumbles the paper shoving it into his backpack.
"Oh nothing" he replies and smiles.
"So, after school, ummm... where are we going to meet at?"
"Well, I figured the ice cream place downtown would be okay. We can walk together if you don't know where it is" he offers.
I know exactly where it is, it's Kellie and mine's favorite hangout spot but he doesn't have to know that. "Yeah that'd be awesome. I have no idea where that is so that'd be a big help" I lie smoothly.
"Okay, it's a date" he says and grins.
I nod my head and try not to squeal. Of course he didn't mean a real date, he was just joking, but my stomach still flipped anyway. I was trying to think of something to say back when Mrs. Johnson called class to attention.
That was the first and only time I was glad for class to start. I spent the period thinking about my sketch and of ways to ask him to let me draw his eyes without sounding creepy.
Before I could come up with anything the bell rang and of course I jumped giving Ryan a reason to laugh at me.
He chuckled and shook his head; "seriously?" he asked and raised his eyebrow.
I stuck my tongue out at him like a five year old wrinkling my nose.
He grinned at my childish acts. "Don't put your tongue out if you're not planning on using it."
Immediately I blushed and smiled trying to mask my embarrassment at his stupid but cute comment.
"Don't get your hopes up" I joked back as I started walking out of the classroom.
He trailed along beside me.
"Oh darn" he said sarcastically.
We got to the doorway and we had to go opposite ways.
"Well I'm going to be late... I'll see you after school" I said not ready to wait that long.
He nods his head and starts walking to class but backwards so he can still talk to me. "Yeah out front by the office" he says.
"Okay" I agree. He puts two thumbs in the air just as he walks right into someone coming out of a classroom behind him. He stumbles a few times and I can see the flush coming up his neck from embarrassment. He grins at me before he turns around and walks the right way.
I shake my head to myself laughing as I walk down the stairs to my next class, counting down until the bell rings for school to let out. It can't come fast enough.

Idiot. I almost fell right on my ass right in front of Riley. But hey we have a date/study thing after school today so I'm good. As I walk in to my next class I pull out the crumbled piece of paper I put in there last period and toss in the garbage can. That was a close one. She almost saw the list I made of things to say to her when she got there. Wow, that sounds so dorky. I made a list of things to say to a girl. Can you say Loser?
