Bryanna’s green eyes welled up with tears and nodded, she made odd gurgling, choking sounds as she wept, flashback probably flooding her. Eric knew it would be unwise to enter her personal space again, so he said, “Bryanna remember what Dr. Cross told you; replace troubling thoughts with happy ones.” Minutes later, Bryanna’s shoulders stopped shaking uncontrollably and her tears stopped flowing. “Thank you for your time Bryanna, I’ll see you next week.” He smiled dryly and gave the image of a dashing debonair; just to make sure that Bryanna wouldn’t hate him for what he did. He felt a sense of accomplishment as well as the urge to see Bryanna’s eyes with emotion again like earlier, not the normal monotony that ruined her beautiful figure. Eric shook his head; he was thinking nonsense again.

Months passed by quickly and Eric and Bryanna grew closer together. Eric found out that Bryanna was raped by a drunk while on her way home one dark night. The worst part was that her so called “best friend” was driving by and saw the scene, yet she drove away as fast as she could instead of helping Bryanna. Eric felt a strong urge to rip the drunk limb from limb and scoff at the girl, but he crushed his train of thought quickly. He was not falling in love with his patient, he couldn’t be. No matter how angelic she looked when the sunlight shone on her just right, no matter how adorable she looked when she brushed away stray curls from her pale face— he was doing it again. Eric had no time for distractions, but he couldn’t help it; Bryanna was just too charming! She had that quiet charm and elegance around her, an entrancing air that made you want to be near her, and she always had the smell of melons on her; which he found intoxicating.
Bryanna was gradually getting better, she showed more emotion in those emerald eyes of hers, but she still couldn’t speak yet. Eric longed to hear her voice, which was enough to motivate him each day. Bryanna was able to capture Eric’s cold heart without even knowing it. Eric just wished that Bryanna would not notice, he was a doctor after all and she was his patient.
