I awoke to a knocking on the door and a rather skinny Pug sleeping and drooling all over my face.
"Ugh, Pig!" I mumbled "Get off! Ow! watch the claws! Jeesh I really need to get them cut!" I picked Pig up and trotted out to the front door, forgetting the fact that I was wearing my old Big Bird nighty, that was now more of a slutty version of lingere. New pyjamas are going to need to be added to the shopping cart, along with so many other things.
"Hello?" I asked somewhat sleepily, unlocking the door.
"Oh, hi! Sorry if I woke you, I didn't think you'd still be sleeping, it's 4pm" I looked at the old clock that stood above the door in shock.
"4... PM! Crap I can't remember the last time I slept so long! Maybe it's the pills and medication they had me on at that hospital, goes to show, don't do drugs! You'll sleep through half your life, and that's when they're medicinal! Hey Pig?" I smiled as an idea grew in my mind. "Nup!" I answered in a voice as puggish as I could manage, using my hand to make Pig's head nod. I laughed at my own stupidness.
The girl at the door laughed as well, but her laugh was a bit nervous.
"Well, um, you're clearly feeling better! How do you feel?" I looked up and realised it was Amy. Suddenly everything that had happened the past two or three days smashed on top of me. My eyes widened and I whispered a small 'oh' before I started to sway, it was like the floor was ripped from beneath me, and with that, my day of bliss disapeared.
"Quick! Here, ok sit down, it's alright!" Amy squealed in surprise, grabbing a chair and pushing it under me.
"Oh" I managed to choke out again, putting Pig down. She walked around the chair a few times, horoughing in anguish and worry.
"Bianca, Bianca! Ok, just breath. In... out... in... where's a tap? I'll go get you a drink." Amy fussed, beginning to turn on her heals. I stopped her by grabbing her hand.
"No, no wait, stay with me, please?" I choked out breathlessly. The last word sounded weird on my tongue, like it hadn't been said for a while. I guess it hadn't, I mean, I wasn't the person I used to be anymore, I dont' really ask I more so just order. I had completely forgotten the person I'd turned into the last few hours.
After a little while of silence and deep breathing my thoughts started to clear up.
"Oh, Amy! Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you! I can't thank you enough! Oh Amy I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I mean, I didn't want to scare you! Not that it would have or anything like that but, oh Amy I'm so sorry!" I blurted out. Amy put a finger to my lips.
"Shh, it's alright Bianca, it's alright. You don't have to be sorry. It's not your fault" she whispered.
"But it is!" I protested. "I turned into this, this, this monster!" I gasped.
"Shh, Bianca, shh. It's all ok, I'm here. You don't have to be like that anymore it's alright. Shh" Amy patted my shoulder and picked up Pig who had been making her weird horoughing again and jumping at the chair to try and get a better view of what's going on.
"Aw, cute pug! What's his name?"
"Her," I corrected. "Her name is Pig" Amy looked at me weirdly for a second and then laughed.
"Ok then, Pig not bad" she said, trying the name out for size.
"Yeah, I named her that when I got her, I was much younger then and I thought her nose looked a bit like a pig's snout; so I called her Pig. Pig" I repeated unnecesarily.
"Aw- Ouch! Wow, some pretty dangerous claws you've got there! And you're so skinny!" Amy exclaimed looking at me accusingly.
"Oh, um well, you see, when we got the letter and mother turned all zombie-ish we kind of, er, forgot, about Pig..." I trailed off. Amy looked at me in horror.
"What do you mean, forgot about her? For how long?"
"Oh um, maybe sort of, er, around a few, a few er..."
"Days?" Amy cut in distainfully.
"No, er, maybe sort of..."
"Weeks?" she asked again.
"Er, not quite..."
"MONTHS!" She exclaimed, completely horrified by now. I shrunk in the chair guiltily.
"Oh you poor poor, poor thing!" She screamed, holding Pig closer to her chest. "How could you forget about such a gorgeous girl!?" Amy asked me incredulously.
"Oh, well, um..." I wasn't sure if I was ready to tell anyone about what happened.
"Wait, didn't you say something about a letter and your mum doing something to do with a zombie?" she asked cautiously, still holding Pig tight in her arms. I looked up at her, scared. Tears flowed down my face again and I found myself spilling my guts out, telling Amy, the girl I had only just met but who had no doubt saved my life, about my horrendous past.
