The next morning, when Ellen arrived to school, her friends were not in the classroom yet. She shrugged it off for the time being " probably just late, she assumed" but she waited the rest of the day and they didn't come. The end of the school day, bell had just rung and Ellen was worried. She had known them since she was 4 and in those nine years they had never missed a day of school. Well, she would wait until tomorrow to get very worried.

As time does, the rest of the evening flew by, uneventful. When Ellen woke up in the morning, she wasted no time getting to school. When they started doing the pledge, Ellen did so promptly. Ellen stared at the door waiting for her friends to burst through, but 10 minutes of staring turned to 30 minutes then to an hour, and they still had not come. When the end of the school day came again, Ellen was worried sick. She raced home to tell her dad what had happened but. When Ellen opened the door she hung her backpack up and could not find her dad. She searched the whole house top and bottom. Then she realized that her pets were not there either, and she searched every room one more time except... Her parents room.
