Your POV
The fresh coastal air hit your face as you stepped from the plane at LAX. It had been years since you had visited your home state of California and even longer since you had been to LA. You adjust your messenger bag before boarding the bus that would take you directly to the terminal where you would pick up your bags before you call your childhood friend Sarah to come pick you up and take you back to her place where you would be staying a couples days till your apartment was all set up.

You had gone to school with Sarah until 10th grade when you then moved to Tennessee with your parents and brother to take care of your sick grandma. You finished out your high school career there before going to an engineering and technical college in New York City. You then moved back and spent a couple years help care for your grandma while your bother completes his art school degree. You used this time to your advantage with internships and such were able to land a job in LA with little to no effort. You then called up your old friend after seeing she lived in LA with her husband and 3 kids and asked to stay with her for a couple days while getting settled. She quickly said yes and now all you have to do is wait for her to pull up and you'll be home free.

You recognize the white car as it pulls up from a picture she had sent to you a couple weeks ago. She bustles out and gives you a huge hug, "Y/N! Its been forever!"

Hugging her back you give out a sigh "I'm so sorry to not have visited early and was heartbroken when I couldn't come to your wedding. I had the dress picked out and everything but then grandma had one of her spells." I apologize to the wonderful friend I have.

"I understand completely Y/n, now let's get the stuff in the car I don't want to keep my man waiting." I'm confused by the statement but wait until my stuff is in the back and I'm seated in the passenger's seat.

"What do you mean by 'keep your man waiting'?"

"Oh I meet Bryan at work for lunch sometimes and I thought today would be the perfect day to do that. You see I didn't tell him you were coming," my eyebrows raise at this, I was supposed to be staying in their house, "Oh no dear I told him a friend was coming I just didn't tell him I was you. My thought was we surprise him at work and see if he recognizes you."

I nod my head now understanding her plan but there was just one thing that had me perplexed, "why surprise him at work and not when he gets home?"

"Oh my gosh, I never told you! Bryan works with my two little brothers!"

This has me astonished "you mean 'Matt-Matt' and 'Little j‽" I couldn't imagine them all grown up. Matt was a typical awkward tween boy when she last saw him and Little J was this little kid who had the biggest crush on her. She was a cool friend of an older sister.

"Yep, the very same. I can see Bryan and Matt having a hard time but Joey? Ha! He had the biggest crush on you!"

"Oh didn't I know it! He gave my chocolates like every year for valentines day and whenever I asked him to do something he followed through like a little puppy dog."

"Gosh you are not gonna recognize him." She sighs remembering when Joey was younger.

"You mean he's no longer a scrawny little thing?"

"Well he's no longer little but he is still quite scrawny. He's quite a bean pole."

I laugh at the thought of the scrawny Little J I knew as tall. He was an adorable little kid who was just starting to get acne and not think girls were gross. I was the friend of his older sister who had convinced her parents to dye her hair over the summer. My hair had been waist length and a little uncontrollable but once it was in a ponytail it would flow nicely and the color would shift. Once we ask if Little J didn't like girls why did he like me and he replied with 'Y/N's not a girl'. That caused Sarah and I to start dying of laughter.
