He's not my first kiss, but he's only about the third-ish. I didn't know what to do. We've literally never talked before today.
When he pulls away, my eyes widen a little. "Jack..."
"I know. I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself." He blushes, looking down to his feet. I then grab his face and kiss him again, causing him to kiss back.
"We should probably get you to the office" I smile, pulling away from the kiss.
"Y-Yeah," he stutters, walking away. I stay on the wall for a second more, admiring what just happened, before catching up to Jack.
"Okay, so what do you do in your free time?" He asks, trying to make small talk while we're waiting for the principal.
"Watch Netflix." I smile, causing him to chuckle.
"No, but really. Do you play any sports or something like that?" He asks, looking at our hands that were linked together.
"I play volleyball."
"That's hot as hell," he blushes, making me blush too. "I'm gonna have to come to one of your games soon."
"Yeah, I guess so." I smile brightly, looking up at him.
We sit outside the principal's office all period, and he never comes out. "You guys aren't skipping class, right?" The office lady laughs as she approaches us.
"No ma'am. We're waiting on the principal." I speak up.
"He's not here today. Are you in trouble, dear?" She smiles.
"He is," I say and Jack waves his hand slightly.
"Okay. Go to the Vice Principals office. Keep him out of trouble, Melody." She smiles.
"She knows your name?" Jack asks as we're no longer in sight by the office ladies.
"Yeah. They always chaperone the volleyball games." I look down at my feet as we walk. Jack's hands were in his pocket and his head was looking down.
"Ah, Okay." He nods as we approach the Vice Principal's office.
"Hi Mr. Smith" I smile as he opens the door for us.
"Ah, Melody. Did you really get in trouble?!" He sighs, letting us in. Mr. Smith and I are pretty close. But I know every teacher I've had at this school.
"No! Jack did." I say, playfully offended.
"Mr. Gilinsky..." Mr. Smith sighed. "Melody, get out."
"Mr. Smith. I was there. I am—"
"She's my friend. She can stay." Jack demands. He made my face light up at the fact that he called me his friend.
Mr. Smith looked at me and raised his eyebrows. "What? Yes I'm his friend. He wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true." I say with a small attitude.
"So what happened?" He asks Jack.
"We walked into class and Mrs. Childers said that we were late," Mr. Smith nodded his head. "I stated that the late bell didn't even ring, and she said that it didn't matter and that we were still la—"
"And I'm gonna stop you right there." He puts his hand out and grabs the school phone from off of his desk and dials a number. "Hello, Mandy! Could you please meet me in my office? Thank you"
I look over to Jack and he's looking at me. "I didn't even get to the part where I got in trouble" he whispers, causing us both to laugh.
Within a few minutes, Mrs. Childers knocks on the door. Mr. Smith signals for her to come in, and she sat down in the chair beside him. "Whatever is going on, I side with Mr. Smith." She smiles.
"You're fired." He says simply.
"Huh." She seemed scared.
"I have gotten numerous complaints about you over the course of a month. Mostly different, some the same. All of them were bad. So you're fired. Take your stuff and leave." He points to the door and she leaves, crying. "You're free to go home." Mr. Smith smiles. We thank him as we walk out the door.
"Well, That was something." Jack chuckles.
"You just got our teacher fired." I laugh, gaining a laugh from Jack as well.
"If I beat you to your car you have to give me a ride home!" Jack yells, running down the hallway.
"JACK!! JACK THIS ISN'T FAIR!!" I yell, running after him.
When I approach the car, Jack is leaning up against the passenger side. "Guess who has dibs on the passenger seat?" He smiles, making me laugh through trying to catch my breath. I notice that he's breathing just fine, whereas I'm trying to gain air. "How can you run without running out of breath??" I ask, amazed.
"I'm in shape." He chuckles at how badly I can't breathe.
"Are you calling me fat?" I joke.
"What the fuck? Those words never left my mouth!" He laughs.
"Oh my god! I can't believe you. Ugh! I can't even be friends with you." I joke.
"Awe. but Mel..." he whines, coming to my side of the car.
"Ew. Go away" I joke and he leans in for a kiss, which I happily give him. I know we're not dating and this is weird, trust me. It's weird for me, too.
I drove Jack home and went straight to my house. "What the heck, Mel?! I've been worried about you!!" Mom said as I walked through the door.
"Mom. What the mess." I sort of hug her back.
"Where were you??"
"First I went to the principal's office, and then I had to take someone home." I explain and she just nods her head, leaving me to go upstairs into my room and hang out.
When I open my phone, it's pulled up to my contacts and I see that I have a new contact. Jack. That little weirdo.
"Mel?!" Mom called out for me.
"What??" I yell back.
No answer.
"What??" I yell again before going downstairs. "What?" I ask, annoyed, as she was sitting on the couch.
"Come on." She leads me into the kitchen where dad is sitting, reading the newspaper.
"Hey, baby," dad smiles as he puts down the newspaper and looks at me.
"Okay, sweetie. We've come to a decision. And before we even tell you what it was, the answer is yes and we can't change it now."
"What is it..?" I ask cautiously after a few seconds.
"So you know how we've been bugging you to get a job?" Mom asks. I nod my head. "Well, we got you one."
"Oh my god, yay! What is it?" I am so, so excited to get a job!!!! I've been looking for one since the beginning of my Sophomore year.
"You're going to be babysitting Katherine's two girls."
"IM BABYSITTING?!!"
