4|| Hangovers

LEAHS POV

I wake up to Laine groaning. I turn around and his face is shut tight. Hangovers. I get up and go close the curtains. I walk downstairs and get him a water and Advil. I walk back up stairs and put it on my nightstand.
I crawl back under the covers and run my hand through his hair. He becomes less tense.

"Here take this" I said and gave him the medicine and water.
"Thanks"

It was now 2 and we were riding the four wheeler. He was just wearing shorts and a hat. and I was wearing a bathing suit with a shirt on. We were heading to the rope swings. Basically a big pond with hills.

"Laine stop!" I yell and he presses the brakes of the four wheeler.
"What? What's wrong?" He says looking around. I get off the bike and go to the small yellow Labrador puppy. He walked up to me with his head down and tail waging. He didn't have a collar and was obviously very hungry. It was really small.
"Would be you to spot it. Is it a boy or girl?" He asked kneeling by me and petting it.
"I think it's a boy. We can't let him stay here Lainey" I looked at him. Worried that the puppy will die if we leave him.
"Yeah. I'm not leaving him. I say. We take him home. And bring him to pet smart and get some supplies. He's starving. And very young to be away from its mom." He looks at me and smiles. "Grab him and get on the four wheeler." He says and I smile at him. I pick up the puppy and get in the back of Laine. The dog laying on my lap.

We got home in no time. I hurried inside to get Laines wallet, shirt and shoes. I hurry and put some shorts on. And I came outside and hopped in his truck.

We walk into pet smart with the dog in my hands. Laine walks up to a worker and asks what to give a dog that is in bad condition. All the good stuff.

After he gave us the milk for him, the worker also told us that he was a purebred yellow lab. And he was 6 weeks.

We thanked him and went to the dog isle.
"What's his name?" I asked Laine.
"I don't know. What ever you want it to be." He said examining the blue leash with dog bones on it.
"I like buddy" I smiled looking at the dog in my arms.
"I like that name" Laine looked at me and smiled.
He took the blue leash and collar and went pick out some treats.
I grabbed a soft navy blue bedding and a couple toys.
I put the bedding down in the basket and put buddy on the bed. He laid down and fell asleep.
"Moms probably going to be pissed."Laine giggles.
"She can't be mad. Look at his whittle face" I said in a bubbly voice. Laine chuckling at me.
"He's going to be a great hunting dog" Laine said scanning the items.
"You are not making him a hunting dog." I said helping him scan them.
"Sure baby girl. Anything to make you happy in the moment" he said and my heart fluttered when he said baby girl. I stopped what I was doing and crossed my arms and looked at him.
He looked at me and chuckled. He grabbed my elbows and pulled me in. And kissed me. He lets go and continues to check out. I just stare at him. He was gorgeous. He was wearing the same hat that I got him 4 years ago. A long sleeve blue shirt and Nike shorts. I loved him. I walked behind him and wrapped my hands around his torso. I kissed his back and let go.
"Ready?" He looked at me. I looked at him and smiled.

"Mom?" Laine yelled through the house.
"I'm in here Laine!" She yelled back. I giggled as we walked into the kitchen. Laine had buddy in his arms.
"What do you.. Laine.  Where did you get this dog from?" She said dropping the spoon on the counter and petting him.
"His name is buddy. Leah found saw it in the field when we were heading to the rope swings." He said putting him on the ground. "We took him to petsmart and they said he was a purebred. Can we please keep it momma?" He asked and she looked at me.
"I guess." She sighed. Laine hugged me and kissed me.
"Wooohooo!" He said and I giggled.
