The Internet has always been full of mysteries.

Some speculate that beyond the deep web and the dark web, there is an even more ominous layer, called Mariana's Web- named after the deepest ocean trench yet. Some speculate that this deepest of the deeps is run and controlled entirely by artificial superintelligence.

Evidence has been found to support the idea that there is a global GhostNet, a network that spies on and threatens every Internet user in the world. And in addition, there was the topic of Internet black holes that quietly collected and re-routed data. Everything from Facebook statuses to government information.

And the truth is, none of these black holes are run or controlled by artificial superintelligence. Not at all.

In fact, Goulman controlled them.

Goulman was a ghost. No one knew both his pseudonym and his legal name simultaneously. No one could assign a face to his pseudonym, and if anyone on the planet led a double life, it was Goulman. His public appearance and his career were completely separate from each other, though they originated from the same person- they were partitioned like the host OS from a virtual machine.

While there was no one who knew everything, Goulman was close enough. He'd learned to expertly command the numerous Internet blackholes that scientists were still discovering, and he could use them to obtain almost any information he desired.

Of recent interest to Goulman was the case of none other than Gabriel Leroux. And like every good investor, Goulman had been doing plenty of research.

Note: If Goulman ever says that he has done "plenty" of research on a subject, he is really implying that he knows nearly enough to recount every defining moment of that subject's life.

The case of Gabriel Leroux was no exception.
