"Well," I handed the note back to Evan, "now what?"

"She didn't tell us where to go, or what to do. She didn't give me any clues whatsoever." Evan anxiously paced around the room.

"Evan, what about the map?"

"The map doesn't do much, does it?" Evan shot at me. "It just pinpoints places she's been."

"Or places she's at."

"I don't know, Lily." Evan stopped in his tracks, his back facing me.

"You don't know what?"

"I don't know what to do." Evan collapsed to the ground. I sat down next to him.

"We'll find her, even if we don't know where to start."

"She's gone." Evan whimpered. "She's gone."

"Not forever. She has to be somewhere." I stated. "Anywhere."

"I wish she was here."

"I know, Evan. I know."

He turned to look at me, his hazel eyes meeting with mine.

I felt something.

I felt something I shouldn't have been feeling.

My stomach churned, and I had this sudden urge to kiss him, to hold him close, to lay and act like nothing matters.

Because in that moment, we both lost something and found something in each other.

He leaned toward me, his lips meeting with mine.

Everything stopped, it felt, including my heart. It was as if we were two puzzle pieces being put together.

It felt right, but it was too wrong.

"Wait, Evan." I pushed him away. "This isn't right."

"Lily-"

"You literally just met me and to top it off your fiance is missing!"

He looked away, staring away.

"You're just vulnerable, Evan."

"I just miss her..."

"I know you do." I said gently. "I'm sorry."

"It's just..." Evan began, "you remind me of her..."

I wrapped my arms around him in a hug, holding him close to me. His body was shaking as he quietly sobbed. My heart hurt just watching him.

"It's ok, Evan." I whispered. "We're going to find her."

"It's just," Evan sniffled, "I need her, you know? I need her, and she's gone."

I rested my head on his shoulder. There wasn't much I could do. I wish I could do something to make him ok, something to make him better.

I don't know why I felt this way, but there was something about him that was different.

It wasn't how he looked, or talked. It was simply how he was.

He was amazing.

No, Lily. No this is wrong.

You can't like Evan when you're searching for his missing fiance.

No.

It's not right.

"What did she look like?" I asked.

Evan reached inside his shirt, pulling a lock necklace off his neck. He handed it to me.

I opened up the lock and was surprised to find that my black hair and bright blue eyes resembled hers.
