A human child comes into the room. They are sobbing. The child looks so much like Chara that I am overcome. I stand in the shadows. Memories come to me.

The guilt, the shame... Chara, dying from the buttercups. Asiel, killed by humans. Toriel... my dear, sweet Tori, driven away by my actions. She is disgusted that I would kill the humans that fall here.

Every human has been caught by the Royal Guard. I have killed every one of them. This one, though... this human was not caught.

Have they killed the Royal Guards? Killed Undyne, Alphys, and the rest?

"Howdy," I say.

The child gasps. "You talk like Flowey," they tell me. "You're gonna kill me, huh?"

"It seems you understand the weight of the situation," I reply.

"I won't kill you." The child says. "Toriel taught me not to. She's right. I haven't killed anyone and I'm not going to start now."

"Then how did you make it past Undyne? Past Alphys?"

"Undyne and Alphys are... they're my... they're my friends," the human says.

"Well, human, it has been nice to meet you. Goodbye." I initiate a battle. Then, I destroy the MERCY option. If the child spares me, I will spare them. That is unacceptable. The child must die for monsters to be freed. Even if it's heartwrenching to hurt this child, this child that looks so like my Chara, and acts so like my Tori.

But then the child simply sits on the ground. "King Asgore, I don't have anything to go back to. Just take my soul. Save the monsters. Undyne shouldn't've spared me."

This poor child... I cannot kill them. I set down my scythe. "You would die to avoid having to kill me? To set monsters free?" I ask, surprised. "Child, I promise, I will take care of you. I will find another way to help my people. I will try to reconcile with Toriel and we will give you a good home here."

"That would be nice," The child sniffs.

"Of course. I-" And then pain rips through me. I fade to dust. My soul shatters.
