Chapter 1: Ideal Girl?

"If being perfect is the only thing you are looking for, then just stay what you are" -Internet

"Mom, I want this t-shirt." Sharlet said pointing at that Cold play t-shirt.

"Honey, this would not fit you, will it?" her mother, Anna, replied keeping her hand on Sharlet's shoulder.

"You should try this." the sales girl insisted picking up another t-shirt.

"But mom I want that Cold play t-shirt." Sharlet muttered.

Anna rolled her eyes and said,"No more delay. Hurry up,I'm tired of you and your stubbornness."

Sharlet said "yes" as she saw Anna proceed towards the cash counter. "Devil." She completed her sentence.

The ride to home remain quite. Anna decided not to annoy her daughter anymore. Sharlet too avoided an eye contact to made it clear that she was mad.

As soon as they reached home, Sharlet went upstairs, to her room, storming.

"Sharlet!" Anna called after her. Sharlet was already pissed off.

She locked the door. Anna went after her and softly knocked the door.

"I'm sorry. I should not had yell at her at the mall." Anna said softly and gently.

No answer.

"I'll make your favourite pancakes with extra butter!" Anna said excitedly.

The door opened revealing Sharlet's apologetic face.

"I am sorry too mom.. Sometimes I am so childish."

Anna gave her a small smile.

"Its okay honey. Wear the t-shirt and come downstairs." Anna left.

Sharlet closed the door. She took her t-shirt and scanned it. She undressed and put on the t-shirt. It was a plain yellow t-shirt with 'I'm an Ideal Girl' written on it.

Ideal Girl? She choked out a laugh.

She scanned her reflection on the mirror. It revealed a short girl with unruly black hair which ends below her shoulder. A pale skin which had acne marks all over it. Small and not so attractive breasts. A belly which she would prefer to be flatter. And at last her legs full of scratch marks. How badly she dreamt of long and sexy legs which all the girls would be envious of.

She again read her t-shirt.
