They told me life moved on with or without a person.
That getting attached was something I shouldn't make a habit of doing.
But I made a mistake.
I got attached to the beautiful man that I found right in front of me.
And -it seemed- that the world started turning.
Life started to move.
For what seemed to be the first time in my life.
He took my hands eagerly in his, introduced himself.
My one little thing's name was Jack.
Such a name.
Fitting for someone big and strong, or young and inncoent. He was all those things.
Jack was all those things.
I didn't love him, but I wanted him.
This attention...
It made me nervous, but complete.
We talked.
Well, he talked.
Jack wrote music for the piano. Some of his songs were popular, and some were not.
He told me that he was like that too.
I'd had a hard time believing that, as I had only ever known him to be an extremely likeable guy.
He was patient.
Only asking me simple questions, ones I could answer with a simple yes or no.
Ones I wouldn't hesitate to answer.
He asked me if I were mute, I shook my head no, asked me if I would tell him something.
I smiled.
It wasn't something I meant to do, but it was so easy.
I never thought it would be that easy to smile.
And it wasn't, but around Jack it was.
Even if I smiled, I didn't say anything.
There was nothing for me to say.
In that moment, I found there was nothing I needed or wanted more.
My parents asked me to go somewhere to get healthier, but at this destination I found something so much better.
