At first, all she remembered was her name. "sarah amber" she thought to herself. The name hung in her thoughts, as if she were givin a puzzle, with no picture of what it was suposed to be. But then, as sudden as flipping a switch, the pieces of the puzzle began to fall together. First, she remembered her best friend, Castille. The memory of them laughing on the warm, soft sand of the beach, and the sun barring on their backs began to fill her mind. And so did other memories of them; their endless sleepovers, odd activities, and their first day of freshman year. Then, she remembered Josh. The name hummed in her thoughts, as though it were electric. The memories of them making eye contact for the first time during that first day of highschool, and how his eyes sparkled, and how soothing his voice was when he said her name, as if it were silk. And she remembered the 9 months they were together, before... then the memories of accident came flooding back. She remembered the horror on her mom and dads pained faces as they stood. helpless, when the car slammed into their young and innocent daughter. Then, all he remembered was darkness. Black filled her mind, as big and as tangible as the pain in her heart. The pain to see everyone she loved again; to feel the sun on her face, and the rain on her skin, and most of all, Josh's hand in hers. Sarah felt hopeless. Was this what it was like to be dead? Was she ever going to see the ones she loved again? She felt as though she were trapped in this endless void of nothingness. But then, just like that, as if a blurry picture was finally coming into focus, she woke up.
