Here have some Josuyasu angst because I'm an ass. So yeah.
The other end of the line; Pick up you idiot!
"Aw...aw bro...no bro don't say that..." Josuke said reassuringly into the speaker, shuffling his position on the two-person couch in his living room he'd been siting on, switching off the TV with one hand as he held the phone to his ear in the other.
From the other end of the line was his best friend, classmate, and neighbor, Okuyasu, who was usually cheerful and inviting, but now sounded as though he'd been through a horrible scolding and was quietly sobbing into the device.
"I-I don't know Josuke...I jus'...I don't even know anymore..." his voice was strained and raspy, more than usual, as if he'd been screaming his lungs out.
"Oku, shhh, sshhhh..." Josuke shushed his friend sweetly, hoping to calm him down with soft sounds. "Bro, it's okay...come over if ya need ta. I'm here an' you'd be more than welcome."
Okuyasu went silent for a few moments before speaking again.
"N-no...I can't come over. I don't wanna ruin yer day with my problems...let's jus' talk." he said it with an underlying tone of falseness.
He wanted to come over, Josuke thought, but said nothing about it, knowing it would only make things worse. He knew his friend, and he wasn't going to push him.
"Okay then." Josuke nodded to the phone. "Let's talk. Tell me what's wrong."
"That's the problem Josuke...I don't even know...I jus' feel like everythin' is crashin' down. Like it's all fallin' apart an' it's my fault." his voice wavered, and Josuke got the terrifying image of his friend crying, suffering alone, which he was doing.
He hated not being able to help. So much.
"Oku..., nothin' is yer fault. Ya haven't done anythin' wrong. Don't say that." Josuke could feel himself starting to tear up, wanting to rush over to his house, and hug him and tell him everything was fine.
But he couldn't.
"J-Josuke..." Okuyasu mumbled into the speaker, sniffing and probably wiping at his face furiously. "Y-you're my bro right...?"
"Yes. I always will be Oku, you're my bro for life." he said quickly, not stopping to take a breath. "I love ya an' ya can't ever make me not love ya. I'm always gonna be here for ya."
Okuyasu took a deep breath and sniffed a few more times.
"T-thank ya Josu...m-means a lot." he sounded a little better, which made Josuke happy. "I...I love ya too bro."
Josuke smiled, wiping his own eyes free of drops.
"Hey...once ya feel better an' have calmed down, how's bout ya come over? We can hang out an' play some video games or jus' plain talk. Get yer mind offa these things. I wanna see ya happy."
His friend laughed weakly.
"Sounds good ta me. G-goodbye Josuke..."
"Goodbye Oku."
"I love ya..."
"I love ya more."
Sad shit is great for venting.
This is kind of a huge problem I usually have with some of my really good friends. I can't ever see them and all I have are my words to comfort them with. But I really do try my hardest to help them and make them feel the best they can be. Because I love them. Hope you guys out there know that. <3
