"Thanks for the ride!" Brook yells to the taxi-driver as we walk onto the path that leads us to the massive house. The front door was open and there were people dancing and laughing with red cups in their hands everywhere. I pull my thight, black dress down a bit.
"Brook, I'm really not sure about this dress, isn't it too short?" She rolls her eyes.
"Don't be so insecure girl, you have a gorgeous figure and that dress really shows it off. Now put your smile on and let's go inside." I smile as we pass the laughing people on the porch and walk into the house. There's one big livingroom that's divided in two by a staircase. I look around and suddenly feel kind of glad that Brook forced me to wear this dress. There's girls in mini-skirts eveywhere and I would have been the weird one if I showed up in my favourite skinny jeans and a tank top. Brook greets almost every person she passes and gives them a hug, which makes me feel a little left out.
It's not like I never go to parties, because I absolutely do. But usually it's with about 50 people and I know them all. Here, there are like 300 and I don't recognize a single one of them. A few girls stare at me as I walk by and I start to feel a little uncomfortable. I think of Ian, what he would've thought about this party. He would have called it 'the second playboy mansion' or something like that. Maybe I shouldn't have come. Wait why am I thinking of what he would say? It doesn't matter, he's not important. He's a dick.
"Follow me, let's get us something to drink first" she says and leads me to the kitchen.
"Brook I don't know anyone here. I feel like everyone is staring at me and it's making me nervous. I could be watching Love Actually right now with a blanket wrapped around me" I whisper. She sighs and grabs a few bottles of alcohol and starts mixing some up.
"You need to stop thinking like that Jess. Have a little fun for once, this is probably the best way to get over that ex of yours." She hands me a cup with blue-greenish liquid and smiles.
"Drink up."
I frown and smell it first, the scent of alcohol almost slapping my brain. What the heck Jess, just do it. I finish the cup in no time and ask Brook for one more. She grins and starts mixing. I look around to decide where I'm going to sit as soon as I get my drink. There's a couch with just 2 people on it and a couple are sitting around it, laughing. They look nice, so I decide to go there. I thank Brook for my drink and turn around. As I do, I bump right into someone's chest, spilling my drink entirely over myself.
"Watch out" the tattoed guy says harsh and just keeps walking. Okay? Rude. I stand there with a soaked dress and my mouth hanging open. Behind me I hear Brook throw in another deep sigh.
"This is so you, come one I'll take you to the ladies" she says with a smirk on her face and we walk up the stairs.
An hour or two later I'm kind of, well, wasted. Brook introduced me to a few people and I've now been dancing with them for about an hour. Suddenly the song 'Timber' starts playing and I start screaming, "YES YES YES THIS IS MY SONG"
I jump up the table and sing along with the chorus of the song while I dance. There are like 30 people in the room and they're now all around the table, laughing and clapping. I don't know if they're laughing because I'm being a total retard or because they think I'm cool for doing this but I don't really care. The alcohol in my system was taking over.
"LET'S MAKE A NIGHT YOU WON'T REMEMBER, I'LL BE THE ONE YOU WON'T FORGET" I sing (or yell) and raise my hands up in the air. I suddenly lose my balance and fall to the side, expecting to hit a hard floor. But instead I landed on some guy that I took down with me. Everyone else around us continues dancing and even my place on the table was already replaced.
"I'm so sorry" I mumble as I try getting up. The guy underneath me turns himself around and looks at me. It's the harsh guy from earlier this evening. God he's hot.
"It's okay, really" he says.
"No let me help you up." I take his hand and try to get him on his feet.
"You don't have to do that" he says with a smirk and stands up. Cute accent.
"Aren't you the girl I bumped into earlier?"
I notice I'm staring at his lip piercing (which looks fine as hell on him) and quickly look somewhere else. "Uhm yeah that was me"
"Well, sorry I was being a dick, but something happend just before that so, yea."
I nod and we stand across each other awkwardly for a while when he breaks the tension.
"Would you maybe like something to drink? Considering I actually made you spill one" he asks and I smile.
"I would like that."
He puts his arm around my waist and I almost jump, but manage to keep it to myself. We pass Brook and her friends on our way to the kitchen and I see her eyes whiden. She isn't smiling, her face looks shocked and confused somehow. I just ignore it and walk further.
After we got our drinks he takes me outside and we sit on a bench in the yard.
"I haven't even introduced myself yet, my name is Ashton" he says and I shake his hand.
"I'm Jess."
"Let me guess, short for Jessica?" His accent saying my name is like sex to my ears.
"Yes it is" I smile and look down at my dress, pulling the bottom edge down a little bit more. I don't know what happend to all the alcohol in my body but I'm back to being a shy loser.
I can't help but look at the tattoos that cover his toned arms, roses and beautiful sketches in color and black.
"Do you have one yourself?" He asks and I realize I was staring again.
"No. But uhm, does it hurt?" I stutter and he grins.
"A bit, yeah. But I got used to it after a while."
I think he noticed I'm still fascinated by all the ink on his body, cause after a minute he asks; "Anything else you'd like to know about them?"
A few questions cross my mind but I decide to go with the flirtiest one. Besides I actually wanted the answer to this one.
"Well, I always wonder if tattoed skin feels different from normal skin." I blush as I say this but he just shrugs his shoulders.
"Would you like to touch it?"
"You don't mind?" At this point my cheeks must've been the color of cherries.
"Nah, I get it all the time" he smiles and puts his arm out in front of him. I hesitate for a moment but then start feeling at the rose on his left bicep. Holy shit his arm was muscled.
I stroke over the flower and then over an open spot on his arm. There is a tiny little difference but not much.
I was just about to say something as Brook appears in the door opening from the house to the yard. "Jess, I need to speak to you for a moment."
