Recap:
He continues to hold her in a way you would see a police officer holding a criminal, keeping her wrists behind her.
Not three seconds later, a new voice declares. "Geez, I get here a few minutes late and I miss everything."
Present:
I turn on my perch on a car hood toward the wide open garage door.
Griffin grins and walks in, looking very entertained by the antics of the bickering group in front of us. "Ey, Talon. What'd she do this time?"
The said bickering group pauses, and looks over to the newcomer.
Griffin walks up to my spot, and gestures to the others who have already disregarded his entrance and gone back to quarreling with each other.
"Got a good view of the show?" He talks a bit louder to be heard over the arguing voices.I shrug, and turn a questioning gaze on him. "Why?"
He knows what I'm talking about and winces.
"I kinda, um, got lost?"
I raise my eyebrow in a 'come again?' gesture.
"You know my mind is dangerous when I'm trying to be on time."
Griffin is known for being late because he gets lost in his daydreams.
"Would all you kids get outta my workspace?"
Talon, Robyn, and BJ all jump a mile in the air at Dave's reprimand.
Griffin and I look at Dave, and I get up and head to the practice room. I can hear Griffin behind me trying to defend Talon, Robyn, and BJ.
"I said, get out!" Dave bellows.
I barely make it inside the office door before everyone else barges in behind me. They push past me, making a beeline for the practice room down the hall from the bathroom and main office space.
When I get there, Griffin pulls me in and shuts the door behind me. He leans on it, breathing fast.
"That guy is scary."
"Ya think? Thanks for stating the obvious, Robyn!"
"Guys, calm down. BJ, cool it. You get sarcastic when you're hungry, have a snickers."
We all chuckle a bit at the stupidity of Griffin's joke.
With the tension in the room gone, we get started.
I take my place behind my drum kit, Robyn connects the microphone to the recording equipment, Griffin tunes his guitar, and Talon hooks up his bass.
The only one left is BJ, who seems pale and panicked.
"Uh, guys?"
He waits until everyone looks at him.
"I think I left my stuff in the garage when Dave chased us out."
Talon face palms, Robyn groans, and Griffin protests.
"Seriously dude? How are you gonna get it? The guy is like a dragon."
"Exactly how I forgot it in the first place, he's scary! When I fear for my life, my first thought isn't exactly how I'm gonna get my equipment set up!"
I walk out the door, tuning out any further arguments. I go straight for BJ's equipment in the garage, and pack up what he was working on. I sling his bag on my shoulder and carry his keyboard under my arm.
