Three Years Later
“Jungkook, you’re not supposed to be here!” Jimin whisper shouted towards his fiance who was currently sneaking into his room and his bed.
“Aw, can’t I see my husband-to-be?” Jungkook asked with a devilish smile on his face as he looked at Jimin. Jimin made a face at the younger before swatting at his chest.
“You’re not supposed to see the groom right before the wedding, it’s bad luck in some cultures,” Jimin said with a huff.
“Hmm didn’t know you were superstitious Mr. Scientist,” Jungkook said chuckling.
“You’re lucky I’m not,” Jimin replied with his own smile. Jungkook had recently begun calling him Mr. Scientist after his most recent discovery which happened to be a game changer. If they got approved for human testing and it worked out, millions of patients with spinal cord injuries would be helped and may be able to walk again if they’d been paralyzed. It would be one of the most revolutionary discoveries of all time. When he’d explained this to Jungkook, the younger had been really impressed and had taken on that new nickname.
“I think I’m lucky in a lot of ways. I think the most luckiest thing about me is I’m going to be marrying you tomorrow,” Jungkook said placing a kiss on Jimin’s cheek as he cuddled closer.
“Are you sure about that? I mean you might have just cursed our marriage my sneaking into my room tonight. What even happened to Tae? I thought he said he’d be guarding my door all night even though I had said it wasn't necessary.” Jimin said.
“Oh he was there, but then he got a call from his boyfriend and after a short conversation he left in a hurry. I don’t think he’ll be back 'till tomorrow morning.” Jungkook responded with a devious grin.
Jimin gasped before saying, “You didn’t! You did not ask his boyfriend to distract him just so you could sneak in here.”
“Well, you know.. I might have,” Jungkook replied shrugging his shoulder.
“Oh wow, you’re the worst,” Jimin said but found himself laughing.
“You know I’d do anything if it meant seeing you.” Jungkook defended himself.
“I know,” Jimin said nodding his head as he climbed on top of Jungkook and laid down on the younger’s chest so he could listen to Jungkook’s heartbeat and even breathing, something he’d started doing ever since the younger had almost died from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. It brought him great comfort to know the youngers heart was beating well and his lungs were expanding and contracting at a steady rate.
The two lay there in silence satisfied with just being close to one another. No words are needed, and the serenity of it all lulls the two lovers to sleep. They awaken the next day to Mrs. Jeon’s disappointed face.
Wedding Day
Jimin was nervous about it, about marrying Jungkook even though he was more than ready to. Since they couldn’t get married in Seoul they had come to New York to get married, that’s how serious they were about it. But still, as he waited for the ceremony to start he felt nervous. He was getting married. Married. It warmed his heart to think he was going to be marrying the love of his life as much as it made him sweat buckets because what if their wedding didn’t turn out perfect and something disastrous happened and they couldn’t marry?!
“Jimin breath. You look like you’re about to have a panic attack. What’s wrong baby?” his mom asked as she came to stand beside him.
“I’m scared mom… What if something happens and then we can’t get married?” Jimin said but even to his own ears, his fear sounded irrational.
Eunji chuckled as she rested her hands on Jimin’s shoulders. “Nothing will go wrong honey. You’re going to walk down that aisle and stand beside Jungkook, the minister will say your vows and you’ll say ‘I do’ and so will Jungkook, and before you know it, you’ll be a married man,” she reassured her son.
“Are you sure?” Jimin asked all the same.
“I’m sure. Jungkook wouldn’t stand for anything going wrong and you know it.”
“Yea… he was very insistent everything be perfect for today.”
“Only cause he loves you so much and wanted to make sure your wedding would be perfect in every way possible.”
“It would have been perfect no matter what, as long as the end result was that we got married,” Jimin said smiling to himself.
“See that’s the spirit. Think that way and everything will be fine,” Eunji responded kissing the top of Jimin’s head.
“Now if you’re ready, let’s get you walked down that aisle,” Eunji said and Jimin nodded as he stood up.
The ceremony began and soon Jimin found himself at the altar saying, “I do.”
And just as his mother had said, just like that, he was married. And he honestly couldn’t be happier in that moment as he and Jungkook kissed.
