chapter eleven

I watched as I drove away from my apartment for the last time. Chance and I are leaving today for California and I can't believe I'm doing this. I never thought that I would see him again and I never thought that I would fall back in love with him again. I tapped my fingers against the steering wheel as I drove to my mom's. I was going to say goodbye to her and my siblings and to drop my car off at their house.

"I hope you have fun on this new journey." Mom said and I nodded. "Thanks mama. I know Mari and I will be well taken care of." I smiled and looked at Chance. He kissed the top of my head before we left. "Ready?" He asked and I nodded. I put Amari in her car seat before getting into the car. I waved goodbye to my mom and Monae as Chance drove off.

"I can't believe I'm in California." I said to Chance. We just got back to his house and we're just relaxing before the dinner he ordered is here. "Me neither." He wrapped his arm around me. "I didn't think I would ever find you again. After you started dating Antonio, I thought it was over for us. Then my mixtape got big and I started making music with my favorite rappers and now I have my girl back on my side." He looked at me. I blushed and looked down. I heard him lightly chuckle before lifting my chin as he kissed me gently.

Amari and Kensli were cuddled next to Court as she read them a book. "Are you happy that me and your daddy are together?" She asked Kensli. She nodded, smiling. "Happy too!" Amari smiled. "You are? Do you like California so far?" Court asked and she nodded. I smiled at them before taking a quick picture on my phone.

After me and Kensli's mom broke up, I had to raise her since she was a little baby. It was really hard having to leave her with a babysitter or my mom when I would leave for a show or an interview. I'm so happy to have Court in my life. I didn't think that Kens and I would ever find love again but we did.
