Ryan carried me back to the house, his breath faintly huffing in my ear. His hands wrapped around my bare waist, my skin against his. His skin was hot, but not as hot as mine. He readjusted his grip, hand winding around my shoulders.
"Its going to be alright my Luna. We're going to make sure your alright'
I close my eyes at his voice as it calms my nerves. I begin to regain movement, but not much. I can move my legs a little, along with my fingers and my wrist.
I nod my head slightly, hoping he noticed. He continues to carry me, the only sound I can hear is the rapid beating of his heart and his steady breathing.
I let my mind wonder to what the hell was happening to me. I cant control any aspect of my body and its killing me.
We made it home in reasonable time, me not paying much attention to time. We saw the lights of the house before we saw the actual house. The glow surrounding the house instantly comforted me.
He carried me through the opening in the stone wall and through the sliding glass door. I remain conscious of the fact that we're both naked, trying to conceal my chest as much as possible against his.
He carries me up the stairs quickly and rushes into our room. He lays me on the bed and covers me in the sheets.
"I'm calling the pack doctor. She should be here soon." With that he stepped into our bathroom, where his voice was mostly drowned out.
I was able to pick up a few words like, now, worried, and cant move. Several seconds pass before he walked back into the room with a warm towel in hand.
"She'll be here in a few minutes." He walks over, shoving his phone into his back pocket.
He sits on the bed and rests the towel on my forehead. "Do you think it had something to do with your heterochromia?"
I moved my arm slightly, resting it over the sheets on my chest. I managed to speak, through my mouth this time, but just barely.
"I've told you that isn't true. I probably just pushed myself to hard. I must have been so exhausted that I just became dead weight."
"I'll bet that the rumors are true. Your were bigger than usual, faster than usual, and I bet your stronger than me too."
"Please just stop saying that. Until we have actual proof that this is related to my eyes, can we please not bring it up again."
He nodded and stood, his nose in the air. A loud knock echoed through the house. He nodded his head at me and left the room.
My head was pounding, every little noise ringing through my mind. I couldn't help but focus on the feet thudding down the stairs hurriedly. I hear the door open and a woman's voice faintly talking. The feet travel up the stairs and make their way into my room. I'm greeted by Ryan's wonderful eyes and a woman following closely.
She was very pretty, with long red hair. She has ear rings dangling from both ears and a small stud in her nose. She had a thin frame bones poking out here and there. She smiles to reveal straight, yellowish teeth.
"Hello Clara, my name is Dr. Black and I'm here to help you. Would you mind answering a few questions for me?"
I nod my head as she walks over to the side of the bed. She crouches and pushes my hair behind my ear. "What caused this?" She asked, pulling out a stethoscope.
"We were only running. Through the trails." Ryan offers. Dr. Black looks up at him and nods. She lowers the blankets off my chest and Ryan spins away to face the bathroom. The metal is cold against my burning skin. She listens for a moment before taking the stethoscope away and bringing out a pen light.
I pull the covers back over my chest. She raises my head with her spare hand and shines the light into my eyes. I here her choke back a gasp. "Wow, your eyes are very pretty. Heterochromia is such a rare thing."
I nod and out of the corner of my eye I see Ryan turn back around and nod as well.
"Did anything strange happen while you were running?" She pulls out a small notepad and begins scribbling words.
"No, nothing too unusual." I say, watching her write.
"Yes, something did happen. She was much bigger than she should have been. Nearly as big as me. And she was much faster. And every time she would speed up, her eyes would glow extremely bright." The words flew out of Ryan' s mouth.
"Wow, take a breath why don't you." The doctor laughs. "So you say there were size and ability differences. That's interesting."
"Its her eyes isn't it. That caused her to be so big and fast." Ryan blurts.
I roll my eyes and lay my head back again. "Ryan, would you please just shut up about my eyes!" I say rather loudly.
The doctor looks at me shocked. "You are aware that you're speaking to the alpha, correct?" She asked, with discontent.
"You are aware that you're speaking to the Luna, correct?" Ryan says stepping to the other side of the bed.
The doctors eyes widen and she bows her head. She begins to apologize profusely for her rude words and tone.
"Stop bowing, just fix my Clara." Ryan says resting his hand on my cheek. I rest my head into his hand as the doctor rises. I raise my head from Ryan's head so I can listen to her next words.
"It is in my professional opinion that it has to do with you heterochromia. There have been a few cases that report the exact same symptoms your experiencing. They all link your ability boost to a genetic mutation. The heterochromia is only a phenotype of the mutated gene."
"Oh my god." I say letting my head fall back onto the pillow.
"You should also be able to heal and recover way faster than the average wolf. It would appear that the extreme fatigue is a negative side affect. I advise you get plenty of rest." And with those words the doctor walked out of the room with her bag in hand.
"Please. Can I please say it?" Ryan pleaded, his voice muffled by the pillow I had wrapped around my head.
"No, you better not." I say, a small smile spreading across my face.
He takes the pillow off my head and laughs. "Fine. I wont. But, I did tell you so." He laughs again.
I take the pillow and hit him with it. He laughs once more before grabbing the pillow, tossing it to the side.
"Well, you heard the doctor. Rest up Luna." He smiles and kisses my forehead. He stands beside the bed and pulls his phone out and walks through the door out onto the landing.
I smile and roll to the side, letting my heavy eyes finally close.
