And You?
“What is it that you do?”
“Why, I am so glad you asked.” He grins. “I am a physical therapist, mostly for children with disabilities.”
“So, you travel to Paris every day to your job? Why don’t you just move there?”
“Not exactly. My office is in London but there is a young boy, Johnathan, who lives in a small town outside of Paris with his parents and they cannot afford to take the train every day with the state young Jonathan is in, so, I take the train a couple days each week to visit him.”
“That is sweet.” I feel my eyes brighten with his words.
“He seems to only react with my tactics and has done extremely well since I begun working with him. I don’t what to give up on him just because he is not physically capable of travel.”
“Do they speak English?” I ask.
“Oh yes.” He chuckles. “If they didn’t I would not be able to help. My French is atrocious!”
I laugh.
“I don’t know how you manage speaking two languages!” He goes on. “I can barely speak one!”
I laugh again. “Your vocabulary appears proper to me.”
“Like I said,” He says with a crooked smile. “Besides learning a second language, I am very intelligent.”
“Or cocky.” I joke and he laughs throwing his head back. I watch is jaw line move as his laugh vibrates out of his throat and come to life.
“Hey, I lost my eyesight. I have the right to be a cocky bastard!” He laughs harder and I join in.
“So instead of wasting money on train tickets why don’t you just move your office to Paris?” I question bringing us back to the topic of his work.
“Don’t get me wrong I like Paris, I just like London a little bit more. Besides, My family live back in London, and since I live with my sister-”
“Oh you live with your sister?”
“Yeah, her and her fiancé. It just makes sense you know? I didn’t want to be 24 and still living with my parents, even if I am blind. And living on my own doesn’t seem to be the safest option. So for now, it’s my sister, Gemma, her fiancé, William and me.”
“Well that’s nice your sister is so kind she would let you live with her. How old is she?”
“She’s 27. William is 28. Usually everybody just calls him Will, but I believe names have power and giving them a nickname takes away some of that power, plus it irritates him sometimes.” He chuckles.
“Three years apart. That’s how far apart my brother, Joseph and I are. He’s 18 right now.”
“And you’re 21.” Harry smiles.
“Good to know you can do basic math.” I joke.
“I told you, I am very intelligent.” He laughs.
