Sweetheart
Ava’s Point of View:
“Thank you Ava.” He breathes on the other line and I can tell his is tired.
“Harry?”
“Hmm?”
“Maybe you should go to bed.”
“Maybe I should.” I hear him yawn through the phone. “Hey Ava?”
“Yeah.” I fall back onto my pillows waiting for Harry to speak.
“Would you like to go to dinner with me this Friday?”
“Harry, I would love to.”
“Well I love that you’d love to.” He cackles but I can tell I am losing him to sleep with every second that passes. “Goodnight love. Sleep well.”
“Goodnight Harry.” I smile to myself. “See you tomorrow on the train.”
“I can’t say the same.” His chuckle is light and I picture him laying in his bed like me with his eyes closed and his phone pressed to his ear.
“Harry…” I warn but he just slightly laughs again before saying, “Goodnight sweetheart.”
Sweetheart? That’s new.
…
The week was busy and even though the days at work were hectic I didn’t mind, because at the end of each day I would get on the train and find Harry waiting for me. We talked about anything we could think of and I loved it. He got me to teach him a couple French songs I learned as a child and I can honestly say his French isn’t as atrocious as he makes it out to be.
“How long can you stay today?” Carli asks me as she jots something down on a piece of paper handing it one of the Playwrights.
“Well that is actually what I came over to talk to you about. You see I have a date tonight and-”
“A date?” Her eyes are wide as she turns to look at me.
“Yeah.” I blush.
“Is this the same boy whose parent’s house you stayed at a couple weekends ago?”
“Yeah.”
“Harold is it?”
“No.” I laugh. “It’s Harry.”
“Ah yes! Harry! So what time do you need to leave?”
“Well he’s picking me up at 7 and the ride from Paris back to London is 3 hours, plus I have to get ready…”
“Alright then you can leave at 2 today.”
“2, really?”
“Yes, but you owe me.” She winks. “I want to meet this Harry who is making my little Ava extremely happy.”
“You will.” I giggle. “Thank you so much Carli.”

Harry’s Point of View:
“Harry would you like something to eat while Stephan helps Johnathan get ready?” Johnathan’s mother, Jean, asks.
“I would love something. Thank you Mrs. Ester.” I hear her place a plate down in front of me at the kitchen table where I sit before saying, “It’s Buckwheat Crêpes.”
“Thank you Jean.”
…
“Does this hurt Buddy?” I ask Johnathan as I slightly bend his foot back just a little, but I get no response from the young boy.
“Johnathan you know you have to tell Mr. Styles how you feel. He cannot see you shake your head ‘no.’” Stephan says.
“No. It doesn’t hurt.” Johnathan finally says and I smile. “So I heard you had a bit of the flu Johnathan, are you feeling better?” I ask trying to get him to be more vocal with his thoughts and feelings.
“Yeah.” He mumbles.
“What time is it Stephan?” I ask looking up to where I think Johnathan’s father is standing.
“1:30.”
“Well looks like our session is done for today.” I pat Johnathan’s leg before standing up.
“Why?” Johnathan pipes up.
“Because, I have a date tonight.”
“A date?” Stephan says. “Who’s the lucky girl?”
“Her name is Ava.”
“Ava, Really? Jean has a niece named Ava. We don’t get to see her much though. I never thought that was a common name.”
“Is she pretty?” Johnathan asks. Thoughts flood back to a couple nights ago when I broke down In front of Gemma about never being able to see Ava’s outer beauty. But then I remember everything else about her that makes her beautiful. “She’s very pretty.” I finally say. “Maybe I’ll even let you meet her sometime.” I tell the young boy.
“I’d like that.”
