After taking a shower I run downstairs to meet my unexpected guest.

"Mona? What are you doing in the ballroom?"
I heard a soft, yet surprised voice of my mother.

"Good morning, ma. I was just walking to receive my guest. It's an unexpected visit, if I'm not mistaken. Have you invited someone, perhaps?"

"Why would you receive an unexpected guest? Go to the study room and prepare for your classes, please. Mr. Willis is on his way." I was disappointed by her statement. So I can't have guests? I've never had someone come over to my house, and now, even when someone's clearly waiting in parlor to be received, I can't talk to them?

"Ma, Miss Donovan said he came to see me.
I want to know who that may be."

"It's a 'he'? Well, I'm sorry, Co, I don't know him. Maybe father has invited him, I'll see who that is. But now, please dear, prepare for your classes. You can invite someone over later, if you'd like."
Mom seemed to notice my disappointment and confusion, but remained quite firm.

She's very focused on providing me with the best education possible, so I went upstairs to the study room and reviewed my notes for Russian language.

"'Tie, Liz! I'm so glad to finally meet you in person!" I heard a boyish chuckle coming from the main hall - with a slight accent?
Maybe I just misheard.

"Excuse me, young man. Who I have the pleasure to talk to?" My mom sounded quite confused.

"Mrs. June, young man introduced himself as Mr. Jung, no further information besides his surname." Distant tone of miss Donovan could be heard along with her loud footsteps.

"Jung? I don't recall, I'm sorry, young man.
I cannot receive you, as you seem to be an uninvited and quite unexpected guest. And certainly I don't have a nephew with your surname. Jill, can you show the young man
to the door?"
My mom decided to very politely end the conversation with a stranger, and thus his surprise visit.

It was unusual that our security guards let
a stranger in, I usually don't complain about the service of our staff, however it's their job
to keep us safe - letting a stranger in, certainly isn't a proper example of doing their job well.

"There must have been a misunderstanding.
I am aware that you have not met me in person, aunt Elizabeth. My name is Hoseok, I'm the son of your husband's college best friend and a business partner, Hosung Jung. The son who used to live and study abroad.
I'm sure you've met my siblings, Hyuntae and Nana. I've been living away from home for quite a while now and wanted to visit some family friends while I'm back for a few weeks."

"Hoseok? Brother of little Jungs? I have not seen your parents in months!" The tone of my mother's voice changed drastically.

"Well, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, young man. I do recognize that lovely smile now, it must run in the family." Mood swings of my mother can be terrifying.

"Would you like something to drink? Tea perhaps? And what brings you to our house?"

"Yes, a cup of tea would be great. I actually came to meet..."

"Ma, daddy called. He is coming back from his business trip today." I run downstairs to share the great news and saw a young, tall man looking directly in my eyes, with an expressionless face.

"Sweetheart, I told you not to interrupt when someone's speaking. It's not pol-"

We've heard a sudden sound of someone's phone. It was Hoseok's.

"Uhm. I'm sorry aunt Liz, I think I have to go now. Thank you for having me." He blurted out quickly and slightly bowed.

He was heading towards the exit, when he stopped and turned around to look at me.

"Hey, I thought you'd never come down to see me. I'm glad we could finally meet, Mo." He smiled and walked out the door leaving me in
a truly confused state.

What was that?
