I smiled as I finished reading Natalie's letter, pulling out the picture of my daughter taking her first steps. Walking to my cot, I pulled out some loose paper, and began to write a reply.

Dear Natalie,

It's better here than it was last month when you asked. And yes the rumor is true. Because we don't have enough money, we are cutting meals, only breakfast though. No one eats it anyways, so don't worry, it won't be missed. I can't believe Callie is walking already! Too bad I missed it. I'm sorry I did, I wish this would just end. They haven't advanced on us yet, but we aren't going to sit here and wait for them too. Tomorrow, we will be moving camp, so I must help get everything ready. I love you, and tell Callie I love her too because I miss my family so much.
