Chapter  1

She was the most beautiful,
Complicated thing
I’d ever seen.
A tangled mess of silky string
And all I wanted of life
Was to sit down
Cross-legged and untie her knots.
-Atticus

Empty.

It was that one word that could explain what she feels each and every day. Citi Valentine just woke up one day hating everything ,including herself.

Citi was like another cliché character from some cliché story, at least  that’s what she thought, she possesses the same boring traits with the main character being all plain and dull, but those kind  of main characters always ends up with a happily ever after ,
But for her situation,  it was far from possible.

This was reality .

And she's  actually more of a fan for tragic stories, she loved the way they suffer, and when all hopes are up, everything you thought would be wrong and the character would end up losing what they treasure the most.

But excluding Romeo and Juliet,(Citi thought)  they were both stupid. Young and freaking stupid,  Juliet was thirteen or fourteen at that  time,  and they  married  each other secretly ,like are you kidding me? ,and they both wanted to ran away  , which was again stupid  .

If they had just waited a little longer,  they both could've had what they both wanted.

But she never hated happily-ever-after’s. It might be all predictable, but she always wanted that kind of thing happening to her life.

But her life wasn’t a book and far from a fairy tale ,like what little girl’s loved for their bed time stories.
She was Citi.

Just Citi Valentine, and not some girl named after a frozen water that falls from the skies, and would have seven tiny friends and an evil step mother.
Sure, she loved books, but there would be no beast that would fall in love with her, and would transform to a devilishly handsome rich prince when she loves him back. And roses don’t grow without sunlight and water.

Citi loved tragedies and Reality is a tragic story. But she hated it more than anything else.

CITI

Citi switches her phone on to check the time, she silently closes her notebook that was  filled with doodles at the back page, more than with actual notes. The bell rings right after she already fixed her stuff.

Class Dismissal was one of the great things Citi considered. She sighed a relief thanking that she’d be free without seeing all her classmates’ faces, not that she hates them.

It’s just that she doesn’t like and doesn’t hate them at the same time; it was more like something in between or maybe it's  because she doesn’t have the choice but to cross paths with some bunch of people that will grew insignificant as time passes by .

Her phone  vibrates and  a message  from her Aunt pops.

" Sweetie your grandma  misses  you a lot,  visit her after class if you're  not busy"

It was Friday ,and Friday was always a good thing.  And the hospital  where her Grandma  stays was just an hour ride away from her small apartment .
Before she visited her grandmama,  she stopped by at a nearby fruit stand  and bought her some of her favorites  .

Citi arrived with the smell  of ethyl alcohol  greeting her.
Dear Grandmama was sitting lovely on the hospital  bed,  and Citi saw how her wrinkled face brightened up at the sight of  her grand daughter  smiling sweetly  like an angel with a basket of fruits in hand.
