I took a deep breath before slinging my bag over my shoulders and heading out the classroom. Thank God it's last hour. Time to go.

It's been a hard day, today. I found out Mrs. Wilson quit her job as a teacher at LASAS and has moved away. I don't have anyway of contacting her and I don't know where she is. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to talk to me anyway. I can't help but think that it's all my fault.

It's my first day back since I found out Carla and Troy are dating. I've been trying my hardest not to be seen or to come in contact with those two.

As I made it to my locker, Troy was also there at his locker.

Great.

I opened my locker, trying to ignore Troy the best I could. As I picked up my AP Calculus book, I heard him call out my name. I just kept switching books between my locker and my bag.

"Taylor, C'mon."

I stopped what I was doing and closed my eyes, hoping he would just get the fact that I don't want to talk to him.

"Can we talk?"

I shut my locker before turning around and facing him. "Talk? About what?" I asked rhetorically, but in a calm tone. "About how you betrayed your friend and started dating her enemy? No thank you." I shook my head and began to walk off.

"She's not even that bad of a person."

I started to reply, but I didn't have time for such foolishness, so I decided to just look for Prodigy.

"Hey, Taylor," Prodigy greeted me with a tight, warm hug.

"Hey. What are you doing this evening?" I asked.

"My mom planned something for us. Family bonding. Why? What's up?"

"I'm going to the beach with Tyler and his girlfriend. Remember Channel?"

"Yea."

"They reunited," I replied.

"Cool. What about right now? What are you about to do?"

"I have to get home so my mom can take me to my dentist appointment," I said with sarcastic excitement.

"Oh.." He laughed. "Well, just call me when you get a chance." He started his way to the school exit.

"Okay."

"Well I have good news, Miss Taylor," Dr. Lucas announced as he held the x-rays of my teeth in his hands.

"What is it?" I asked.

"You no longer need braces."

Y'all don't understand how happy I felt after those words fell from his lips. I nearly started shouting like they do in church. "When can I get them taken off?"

"Now, if you'd like."

"Of cour-"

"Will this cost anything extra?" my mom interrupted. I completely forgot she was here.

"Nope. Nothing extra."

"Well, go on head and take em' off."

I looked in the car mirror to examine my teeth. The doctor gave me a retainer and some other stuff that's gonna help my teeth. Once we pulled up to the house, I noticed Channel and Tyler sitting on the porch talking.

"Hey, guys!" I said with a big smile, showing my pearly whites.

"Your braces are gone!" Tyler exclaimed. "They look nice."

"Thank you. Hey, Channel."

"Hey." She waved.

I ran upstairs to my room and began taking selfies. I was in the middle of taking a few pictures when my phone started to ring.

"Hello?"

"Hey." It was Prod.

"Guess what!"

"What?"

"I got my braces off!"

"Forreal?!"

"Yeah. I'm gonna send you a picture of them."

"Okay."

I hung up the phone and sent him one of the many pictures I had just taken. I was so happy. I think I'm gonna go to the mall and get some new clothes. My braces just got taken off, so I should get some new clothes to reward myself for enduring two years of torture.

"Tyler!" I called as soon as I made it downstairs. He was watching tv.

"Yea?"

"I'm going to the mall instead. You two love bird deserve some alone time together. Get up to date with each other."

"Aight."

"Have fun, but not too much. I'm not babysitting anybody kids," I joked.

"Shut up." He laughed as he picked up the keys to Ron's car. Ron must be home.

My mom had came down the stairs.

"Ma, can I take the car to the mall?"

"Sure, sweetie."

Tyler was about to turn the tv off when I heard Jacob's voice. "Wait! Let me see this." I stopped Ty from turning the tv off.

"So, we hear you have a special someone in your life that this song was dedicated to." The tv screen changed to a clip from Jacob's song, Alone. "Is this true?"

"Yes it is," Jacob replied with a laugh. The screen turned to a picture of a very pretty girl. She had brown skin, big brown eyes, and she had a really pretty figure. Her hair was really long and very pretty.

"How long have you guys been dating?" the lady asked.

"About two years. I met her when I had first moved to Atlanta."

"What is her name?"

"Riley. My fans love her." He was going to say something else, but I grabbed the tv remote and turned the screen off before he could say anything else. I sighed before placing the remote on the couch and I walked up the stairs like nothing even happened.
