"Yo Isaiah, I'm home" I yelled while coming in through the back door of the house. "Come up" he yells back from upstairs. I climbed up the stairs and made my way towards his room. "You usually get here and hour earlier, what happened?' he asked, without taking his eyes off his laptop. "Antonio made me and Maya close up tonight, but I still was able to bring you some leftover food" I replied while giving him the Styrofoam box. " I thought about telling Isaiah about the whole Larry thing, but i didn't want to distract or bother him while he was doing something. Me and Isaiah are really close even though I'm five years older than him. He's everything to me, I don't know what I would do without my little brother. Our closeness reminded me a lot of Larry and Laurent's relationship. Isaiah's voice pulled me out of my thoughts, " Did you see dad on your way here?" "No I didn't, and why do you still call him dad after everything he's done?" Isaiah went quiet after I asked him that. Suddenly Jay burst into the room. "Speak of the devil" me and Isaiah mumbled in unison. "Isabella where have you been all night?" Jay shouted. "I should be asking you the same question, but from the smell of alcohol on you, I kinda got my answer" "Listen Isabella, I'm tired of you going out at night!" "Well Jay, I guess you're just gonna have to deal with it, cause its my job." Isaiah interrupted our arguing, "Stop! Just stop all of this fighting!" "Isaiah you stay out of this!" Jay yelled. "Don't talk to him like that, he's just trying to help and make things right in this hell of a house!" I yelled back. "If you hate this house so much why don't you just leave!" Jay replied "Listen Jay, the only reason why I'm still living here, and putting up with your bullshit is all for Isaiah! The second he turns eighteen, we're out! And in case you've forgotten, I pay for half of the rent here, so I have just as much of a right to live here as you do" I could tell Jay was getting really angry and frustrated. "And you know what, maybe I wouldn't have such a problem living here if you acted like a proper father and spent time with his children instead of spending time at the bar and strip club!" I added. At this point, Jay was about to explode. His face was starting to turn red. He raised his arm up and slapped me across the face. "Dad, what's wrong with you?" Isaiah shouted" "Isabella how dare you talk to me in such a way?" I held my face in pain, "I don't even know who you are anymore" I replied. " As I said that his eyes went from fury to pain. He slowly turned and left the room. Jay is my father, but being called dad is a privilege. My mother passed away when I was seven. When she passed away it was hard on all of us, especially Jay. Instead of turning to his family in that time in need, he turned to alcohol and drugs. After her death, he was never there for us. Me and Isaiah practically raised each other. Jay changed into a whole new person, and this was the outcome. Both me and Isaiah can't stand anymore of this. Only a few more months until Isaiah turns eighteen and we can move out. It was getting late so I started to get ready for bed. while I was laying in bed, a thousand thoughts went through my mind. One of the main ones being Larry. I thought about calling him, but it was getting late, so I made sure that I would call him tomorrow.
