I didn't get too far when I heard a voice behind me say "You know you should really mind your own busness babe". I cringed realizing it was the voice of the guy who had just knocked out the other person.
I froze wondering what I should do. He just beat up a guy for crying out loud. Any regular person would be running as fast as their legs could carry them. But there I was not moving a muscle. " I don't bite" I heard him say.
I turned around to see this unknown figure. I was shocked at what I saw. The person was a teenager no older than 20. He had light brown hair with tousled curls and light green eyes. Why was someone like this beating up a guy? I wondered.
"Didn't your mom teach you to not stare?" the stranger spoke while taking a step forward having his eyes locked with mine. I took a step back while looking at the ground. Or really anywhere but his face.
I decided to take a risk and say "I'm kind of late to school, great meeting you". I turned around but just as I did I felt a hand on my arm. I tried to pry his hand off but he grabbed my wrist and pushed me against the wall. "But I'm not quite done with you yet" he whispered in my ear. I tried to push him off me but he just pinned both of my wrists above my head with one hand.
I started panicking. Maybe being nosey wasn't a good idea this time around, you know what they say "curiosity killed the cat". Well I wouldn't be surprised if this guy killed me. I was about to start screaming when I felt his other hand cover my mouth. Well that went well I thought. I started to calm down noticing that there was no point in trying to struggle against him, he was going to kill me. I raised my head and stared at his eyes surprised that he was already looking at me.
"Well now that you're not screaming" he removed his hand away from my mouth. "I'm surprised you didn't run away" I couldn't help but to roll my eyes. Well I would've if you hadn't pinned me to the wall, I thought. He continued "are you even from here?" I diverted my head away from him, deciding that I didn't want to look at him anymore. "I know I've definitely never seen you around. I would've remembered such a pretty face." he continued.
He placed his free hand on my chin and moved it so that I was staring back at him again "If you want this to go smoothly I suggest that you answer my question". I shook my head. "What's your name babe?" I tried thinking of a fake name because I sure wasn't giving him my real name. "Megan" I replied smoothly. The guy furrowed his eyebrows while replying "Just so you know, I hate it when people lie to me. But since you're new around here and you're quite cute, we'll try this again. Tell me your real name.". I looked everywhere other than his eyes "Lisette" I said barely audible.
"Well Lisette do you know who I am?" the stranger asked. I shook my head again, "well no wonder" he chuckled. He lowered his lips next to my ear sending chills down my spine "Well I'll have you know Lisette, if you were to ask anyone, and I mean anyone, in this town about me, Ashton Irwin, they'll tell you that I'm not the type of person you could simply mess with". His lips remained close to my ear, I squirmed as I felt his hot breath on my neck.
I took this time to finally get this freak off me. I jerked my knee as I hard as I could and hit him where the sun doesn't shine. He grunted as he jumped off me and landed on the ground, clutching his groin. I took this as my chance and ran as fast as I could to the end of the alley. "Don't worry I'll be seeing you soon" I heard Ashton call out . Never in a million years will Ashton be seeing me again. As I exited the alley I practically ran through the streets while trying to blend myself in with the people around me. People stared at me like I was insane as I turned my head every 30 seconds, trying to see if Ashton was following me.
I have no idea how, but I arrived at school almost out of my breath. Well so much for getting to school early I thought as I checked my phone to see I was already 20 minutes late. I looked at the giant building in front of me. Well this is it. North London High School. I take a deep breath and decide to walk in the building, my first stop, the principal's office. I walk around the empty hallways aimlessly not sure where the office is located. At the end of the hall I see a room labeled "Office". Well this must be it.
Walking in I see a lady at the front desk too distracted by her computer to notice I entered the room.
"Excuse me. My name is Lisette Mathews, I'm a new student here I was wondering where I could get my schedule" I say giving her a small smile. She finally decides to look away from her computer and gives me a fake smile. "I can print it out for you right here" she said and started typing away on her computer. She then stands up and retrieves a paper from the printer and hands it to me. "Your first class for today is chemistry" she says, "it's in the room right above this one, your locker number is 355, have a good day." and then waves her hand as if she's shooing me away. Well then. I walk out the door and start making my way to the second floor of this building. It wasn't that hard finding the chemistry room. As I walk in everyone's head turns to look at me.
"You're Ms. Mathews I believe" the teacher in the front of the classroom says. "Uhh yeah that's me" I say my voice coming out shakier than I intended it to. "Your first day and you're already late. Let's not make a habit out of it. You may go sit down in the free seat at the back next to Ms. Calder, my name's Mr. Wilson by the way I'm the chemistry teacher as you can probably tell". I quickly make my way to the back with my head down where a pretty girl with long curly brown hair is sitting. As soon as i sit down she turns towards me and gives me a sympathetic smile "Hello. My name's Eleanor, but my friends call me El, you're new here right? What's your name?". I was taken by surprise how nice she was but grateful that she wasn't being rude, after my encounter with Ashton I needed someone to be kind to me and not shove me around. "Lizz" i replied quietly while taking out my notebook. "That's cool, if you want you can sit down with me and my friends during lunch" she said.
"Ms. Calder I hope you're aware that you are going to be quizzed on this material tomorrow, you better pay attention" Mr. Wilson said from the front of the class "Yeah yeah I already know this" El said with an eye roll and turned her attention back to me when the teacher began lecturing the class again. "So yeah my friends and I can show you around if you want. Let me see your schedule maybe we have the same classes." I handed her my schedule. "Yeah we basically have the same classes except math and gym. So will you sit with us?" she asked me with hopeful eyes. "Sure" I said. "Great, meet us by your locker after your math class next period." she then turned her attention back to the class. Well then I guess I just found myself a new friend.
