Sixteen

[ Emma's pro ]
Me and Regina just watched the news report. It started us into an argument. "Emma were screwed" Regina shouts angry. "No were not as long as you keep your big mouth shut" I say annoyed now. She crossed her arms and said "so it's my fault now" "no it's no ones fault if you learn to shut up" I snapped interrupting her. She sighed and looked down. "Em what do we do" she says softly while looking at me upset. I shrugged and said softly "I don't know. I need you to keep your promise. Henry needs you" tears started pouring out of her eyes.

She sat on the sofa and put her hands over her eyes. I sat next to her and put my arm around her. I kissed her head and said "we will be alright. I love you" she rested her head on my shoulder and said "I love you two. I'm so scared" I rubbed her arm to soothe her and said "it's ok. We haven't been caught yet and they said they don't know it's us" "em the picture shows you. There gonna figure it out soon" she says cutting me of. "Can you trust me" I asked looking down at her. She hummed and nodded.

"Then I'll make sure you and Henry are ok" I say holding her close to me. I kissed her head and could feel her shaking. I had a plan but Regina wasn't going to like this. In fact she may hate me for it. I do know I'm probably not going to be having a big wedding. Maybe no wedding. "Come on let's go to bed. We can talk more in the morning" I say softly. She nodded but didn't move. I put my hands under her legs and picked her up. I carried her upstairs and to our room. I didn't sleep much but she was out like a light.

[ Regina's pro ]
I woke up the next morning in Emma's arms. I sat up which woke her up. I pushed my hands threw my hair and sighed loudly. Henry knocked on the door before walking in. "Hi mummies" he signed as he walked over. I smiled and said "good morning Henry" I held my arms out and he smiled. He came running over and climbed onto the bed. I held him close and kissed his head. He pulled away and hugged Emma. "Morning kid" she says and gave me a sad smile.

"Can we have breakfast" Henry signed to me. I nodded and said "of course. Go on down and we'll meet you there" he smiled and nodded. He jumped of Emma's lap and onto the floor. He ran out of the room. Emma stood up and said "come on" she went to the door and said "ow and I'm gonna turn myself in for our family" I looked shocked. She left the room before I could say anything. I quickly ran out of the room and she got to the stairs. I grabbed her hair and pulled her back into the room. "What the hell regina" she snapped annoyed.

I closed the door and said "me what the hell? Try you. How dare you drop a bomb like that on me and walk out. You are not turning yourself in. How dare you think that" she looked down a little annoyed. I had tears in my eyes. She looked up and said "I have to. If I don't and we both get caught henry goes back into the system. I've been there and it's horrible. Me, David and Robin spent so many times running away from the system. I also can't let you get put in prison. If I turn myself in I won't get a life sentence. If I don't I will"

I can't let her do this. I need her in my life. "We can figure out away around it like we always do" I say holding her hands. "I use to think that but I'm not so sure anymore. I knew this was going to bite me in the ass one day. I never thought someone would be with me when it happened" she says softly and looking down. The tears in my eyes were fighting to get out. "What are... what are you saying? Are you... are you giving up on us" I say with my voice cracking. She looked up with tears in her eyes and said "when I turn myself in your gonna tell them that you had no idea and your disgusted you were willing to marry a criminal"

The tears left my eyes. I sat down and looked down. "Then your going to take Henry and leave town. The answer to your question is yes. I am giving up on us... because it won't work. I'm sorry" she says softly with a cracked voice. I didn't look up and just carried on crying. "Is this your way of breaking up with me" I asked not looking up. "Gina you know I love you and I hate to do this but if it will keep you and Henry safe then yes I'm breaking up with you. I don't want to marry you" she says with her voice cracking. I looked up crying and she had a few tears down her face.

[ Emma's pro ]
An awkward silence fell over us. She looked down crying. I didn't know what to say. This is something I have to do. "When" she asked breaking the silence. She didn't look up or say anything else. "I don't know. I want to spend a day with Henry" I say softly and walking slowly over to her. I bent down in front of her and she looked up at me. "What if... what if I don't leave here? Henry can't loose you" she says as tears started to slow down. I hated seeing her like this. I used my thumb to wipe them away.

"You have to. If you come visit me then people won't believe that your disgusted at me" I say now cupping her cheek. "I know. I won't ever come visit you I promise. I'll have David or Robin bring him. I'm not taking him out of your life" she says looking into my eyes. I nodded with a week smile. "Ok. You know this is just as hard for me as it is for you" I say putting my other hand on her other cheek. She stayed looking into my eyes and said "if Henry gets one more day can I" another tear left and I quickly wiped it away.

I hesitated before saying "yes" she instantly put her hands on my face and pulled me into a kiss. I could feel her cold tears dropping onto my cheeks. We pulled away and she had tears down her face. "I love you" I say as a tear left my eyes. "I love you more. I don't want to loose you" she says as her voice got quieter until it was a whisper. The door opened and Henry walked in. "Why are you both crying? Are you ok" he signed to us. I stood up and said "nothing sweetie. Come on let's go make pancakes" he took my hand and we walked out.
