Primrose was gentle, but she was fierce. She had a way with words, she liked to be alone. Most kids in District 12 are scared of her, but they see her soft side when she paints. Primrose liked to hike and explore in the woods, but never had the heart to kill animals. Especially because her family was the richest in the district and had no need for extra meat.
In school Primrose always wanted to know more about the games. She had no idea why, but they called to her in a way that none of the other kids understood. She saw herself in the actions of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, and she saw her parents in them too.
In history class they started a unit on the war that ended the games. They learned about the 75th games and how Katniss and her allies escaped the arena, yet Peeta was captured by the Capitol. She thought, halfway through class, where were they now? It was only 30 years after the war, so everyone that fought and survived should still be alive. So Prim raised her hand shyly and asked the question that was bugging her.
Her teacher replied simply, "Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark got married, after the war. But they moved and changed their names so they could be hidden from the fame."
Primrose wanted more of and answer, but just as she was about to ask again, she noticed Harry Snow staring at her from across the room. Prim had always looked at Harry and seen his great grandfather, President Snow, the evil tyrant of the war yet now she saw something different. Now Prim saw green eyes paired flawlessly with wavy brown hair that closely matched her own.
Primrose saw a beauty that she never had seen before, when she was distracted by his ancestry. He gave her and odd look, then turned to face his textbook once again. Primrose continued to stare, disappointed that the moment was over, and reluctantly turned back to her textbook, entitled The Hunger Games.
Once school was over for the day Primrose returned to her home in a part of town that once was Victors Village, a place for all of the winners of The Hunger Games to live. Prim walked in the door to Fin's bright blonde hair and grey eyes. He was only 9 but he looked just like their father, Peter Undersee. He was a kind man, who never looked at a single woman besides their mom, Madge.
Prim approached her father and dove into a conversation that she knew would get her no where. She has already asked him a hundred times. Every time he tells her the same thing. When District 12 was bombed they had barely made it out, but they had. They lived in the woods outside the District until the war was over.
Peter always said his story with an edge of pain, she could always tell that he was holding back something. She just had to figure out what that was. Prim could never ask her mother anything about the war. As soon as the topic came up Madge would change the subject and refuse to say anything about The Games. At this point, Prim had figured out she had to ask her father, when her mother was not home. She couldn't even be upstairs, because she had incredible hearing and could hear a whisper from across the house.
