The "Date"

(Y/n)'s POV

"I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime... Maybe out in the park? Or at your house..." Uta said, a bit unsure.

I smiled and nodded my head and left his shop. As soon as I closed the door to his place, I could feel my lips curl into a smile. After I left the whole building I couldn't help but let myself get lost in thought.

When Uta grabbed my arm and everyone left he asked me to go out with him sometime...?

I asked myself this over and over again. I couldn't believe he 'asked me out'. I was walking home alone, lost in my thought. When I reached the door of my house, my phone started ringing. It was Kaneki.

Why is he calling me?

"Hello?"

"Hey, (Y/n)... What h-happened with you and Uta?" Kaneki said, stuttering on the other end of the line.

"Oh... Nothing really... He just asked if we wanted to hang out sometime."

"*Sigh* I was wondering if tomorrow you'd like to meet my friend Hide."

I smiled and said yes; quickly ending the call. I unlocked the door and ran into my room. I fell asleep excited for tomorrow.

-Next day-

Kaneki's POV

I was waiting for (Y/n) with Hide. Hide was asking me an endless amount of questions about her.

"So... Who's (Y/n)? She seems nice and pretty... OH! Do you have a crush on her?!" Hide said, with a knowing smirk.

His last statement took me by surprise. I looked at him and looked away, "yes and no." I said embarrassed. 

Hide looked at me with utter confusion then mouthing, "Explain later."

"Are you okay Kaneki?" (Y/n) said, as she was sitting down next to me smiling.

"O-oh uh... Yeah, I'm fine." I said, trying not to give too much away.
"Hey, I'm Hide. Kaneki told me a lot about you!" I looked at him and gave him an optional death stare.

"Nice to meet you, Hide!" (Y/n) got up and shook His hand. Hide was grinning, not taking his eyes off of her. I looked over to (Y/n) who was smiling and slowly blushing.

Why is she blushing? Why is he flirting with her? Wait... Why do I care so much anyway?

Hide excused himself and left. He gave me a quick wink and started to run away before I could say anything.

"So, what do you want to do now?" I asked, clearly a bit pissed off.

(Y/n)'s eyes met mine and I started to soften my look. I know that Hide is just trying to make me jealous.

Or is he? What are you saying Kaneki? Of course, he isn't... He's your friend; I bet he's just trying to tease you.

I shrugged and we went to the library. I showed her some of my favorite books and she did the same. We both checked out at least one or two and left. The whole day we went to different places and found out more about each other. When it was time for us to both go home, I offered to walk her and she gladly accepted.
"Thanks for walking me home, Kaneki... I hope we can spend more time like this again..."

I nodded my head and then turn to walk home.

"Also, sorry if this sounded like a date... I know you have a girlfriend..." (Y/n) said.

I stopped in my tracks and faced her. (Y/n)'s face was as red as a strawberry. I looked at her confused; HIDE!!! I shook my head and opened my mouth to say something but nothing would come out.

"Sorry, but I think you misunderstood, I don't have a girlfriend... I have to talk to Hide. Sorry again."

She nodded her head and went inside. Meanwhile, I ran home.

-Next Day-

(Y/n)'s POV

(You and Uta's conversation)

Uta: Hey, (Y/n)! This is Uta! I forgot to ask for your number so Touka gave it to me. I hope you don't mind... ☺

(Y/n): No it's okay.

Uta: So you know how I asked if you wanted to hang out sometime?

(Y/n): Yup!

Uta: Want to do that tomorrow, after school?

(Y/n): Sure!

Uta: Cool, can I pick you up at your house?

(Y/n): Of course... What time?

Uta: 5:00 sound good?

(Y/n): Sure, see you tomorrow!

Uta: :-)

I then saved his number and fell asleep.
