KAYLA.

i was sitting at a table in ruby tuesday's, between nick and jade. across from me was andre, maya, and zion. i guess al didn't want to come.

nahmir had put his arm over the back of my chair nonchalantly. he was talking to zion about the music video to 1942 ft. yo gotti and g-eazy.

there was nothing else to do today so we decided to go out to eat, and of course i invited nick.

it had only been a day since we'd decided to try and make this "relationship" work. we were gonna keep it a secret from others until we felt comfortable letting everyone know.

he was looking so calm and normal, while i was over here trying not to look stale faced. it probably wasn't such a great idea to hide this, and it didn't help that i had to keep up with the lies.

"kayla!"

i turned my head around from where i was staring at, which was my glass of lemonade.

andre raised his eyebrows. "you good?" he asked, causing me to look down.

"yeah," i said, taking a sip from my glass of water. from my peripheral vision i saw nahmir glance at me.

chewing on my bottom lip, i went back to sitting quietly. i wanted to talk to nick, without being too friendly. i mean we were dating, but secretly.

"so, your house later?" maya's voice broke my thoughts.

"yeah, we can watch movies?" i asked.

"bet."

"kayla," nick interrupted, causing me to turn towards him. "you want another?" he said, pointing towards my drink.

"oh, yeah." i said, not realizing i had already finished my lemonade. he told the waiter to get another lemonade, and whatever he was drinking.

i didn't even know the waiter was standing near our table. i should really keep watch of my surroundings.

"you good?" he leaned over, speaking softly in my ear. i assume so the others wouldn't hear.

"yeah," i said smiling.

"you're lying," he said.

"we can talk later," i said waving him off, drinking some of my lemonade.

"bet," he agreed, going back to his conversation with zion.

the rest of the time there went by smoothly. i talked to my friends, trying to act normal. they probably already knew something was going on.

after putting a tip on the table everyone made their way out of ruby tuesday. maya slung her arm around my shoulders, walking by my side. we walked towards the cars in the parking lot.

"so wassup with you and nick?" she asked, as everyone was ahead of us.

"i don't know wh-"

"don't even try it," she said. "the way you're looking right now tells me that there's something going on."

"ugh." i groaned, throwing my head back.

"i mean we're just trying things out, so i can't say much."

"as long as you're happy, i'm happy." she said smiling.

we got to the cars and i got into mine with maya, jade, and andre while zion and nick got into a car together.

i accepted the face time call and waited until his faced popped up.

"hey," he spoke, smiling with his braces showing.

"hey," i said.

"what's up with you?"

"just thinking, i guess." i said looking down.

"oh my god, really?" i rolled my eyes at his sarcasm. "come on, tell me what's really going on." he said laying down on his bed.

"it's just a lot having to hide this from my friends."

"then how about we tell them," he said.

"i just know everyone will have their different opinions about this."

"but what if it's not as bad as you think?"

"maya knows," i admitted.

"how?"

"i spoke words and she listened to those words, genius." i said smartly.

"smartass," he said laughing. his laugh was so contagious that i started laughing along with him.

"you have a really nice smile ya know?"

"shut up omg," i said hiding my face.

"don't hide that beautiful smile."

"you're so corny." i said.

"it's one of my many, many great qualities." he said proudly.

"lemme take that back then."

"oh wow, be that way." he said joking. "talk later?"

"yeah, i should probably go downstairs to maya and them anyways." i said.

"bye, kayla."

"bye, nick." i said as i hung up.

i loves talking to nick, he always had me smiling or laughing. it's an amazing feeling, and i hope it continues.

i passed my geometry final and we're not doing anything in school really, so i'll be trying to update more often 💘
