Kizzy

My eyes started to open, then widened in fear.
The wolf was leaning over Lizzy.
I passed out.
I woke up with a clear tube running into my arm.
I heard Lizter's labored breathing next to me. And I heard the beeping of a heart moniter next to me.
I tried to scream.
"Amwf!"
Tape was stuck over my mouth.
I tried to flex my hand. Pain shot throughout my body from my upper left arm.
I sucked in a breath, and a woosh escaped with the pain.
It felt like lightning had struck my cheast, the electricity flying out from my torso to my fingertips and toes.
I didn't want to move again.
I stared at the white cealing.
I peered at the ridges, the lumps, the points. I picked out the specks of dust. At some time I finally fell asleep.
I stood up, and opened the door to the room.
As I steped out, my shoeless toes sunk into sand. No twigs, or kelp, or gravel. Just soft, blankety sand, that warned my wiggling toes.
I looked around me.
The door behind me had vanished. The sky was orange and pink and purple. White highlighted clouds floated across the sky. Waves lapped across the sand in the distance.
I started jogging across the sand, which turned wet. I pranced about. I frisked right into the water. Round ripples appeared where the water splashed.
I ran everywhere.
And I looked up. The sky had turned a bruise purple.
I stared as the moon came up over the ocean, sending it's silvery light skittering across the waves.
I slowly backed out of the water.
I was then bristling with pain. Fur started erupting from every inch of my body. I stared, dumbfounded, at my hand, which was sporting short black fur.
I watched my fingernails taper, lengthen, and turn black.
I felt my ears shift to the top of my head, and turn into triangles. I felt the points. Then I fell on the ground, writhing in pain.
My body rippled, and then suddenly, I was no longer me, Kizzy. I was something more powerful, more ancient, more animal.
I growled at the moon.
I ran into the water, playing like a puppy, yelping.
After I trotted out of the water, after what seemed like an eternity, my bones began to shift.
I howled in pain.
It took forever before I was a naked, sandy girl, rolling across the sand in pain.
It hadn't alleviated.
I clutched at my face, then my left arm, then my leg. Then where the pain was the worst. My breathing was ragged, my cheast felt as though it were on fire.
Then all of me was feeling the most unbearable fire. I was burning, my blood the fire.
I scrunched my eyes, and froze in absolute pain.
And out of the blue it was gone, like it never happened.
I opened my eyes.
The white walls of the hospitol room were flashing at me, and I heard Lizzy whimper in pain next to me.
I just knew something was wrong. And I knew that that blue eyed wolf had something to do with it.
