"Where were you?" My best friend, Katie asked nervously. "I've been waiting for you for 2 hours! And usually I don't wait this long, but this is a special occasion!"
She kept talking and panicking as I walked through the door and over to her.
I sat down on her leather couch and collapsed after my long, miserable day.
"Care to explain why you were late, Skylar?" She asked again, waiting for my response.
"I'm sorry," I said in a grogy voice, "I've just had the worst day."
"Let me guess... You got home, practiced your dance routine, drove your brother to soccer practice, finished your homework, and COMPETELY FORGOT OUR PLANS!!"
"Wow. You're a good guesser!" I said with a laugh.
"Well, you do that almost every day, so what made it SO terrible??"
"I didn't get to enjoy it! I was on the move all day and never had a break! Plus, I didn't get to go dress shopping for prom with my best friend! Do you think we could just shop tomorrow?? I'm really sorry for not telling you earlier!"
"Oh, So terrible!" She said sacastically. " And yeah, we'll just go tomorrow, but I'm picking you up right after school 'cause you're just gonna forget...again!"
"Hmmm.... Yeah," I said with a little grin, "How about we just watch a movie for now, since I kind of ruined our original plans."
"Kind of?"
"Okay. I messed up big time. It won't happen again." I said as I turned on the TV and looked through a pile of our favorite chick flicks.

I woke up to see that I was still at Katie's house. I looked around and saw Katie sitting up, texting her boyfriend, Jason.
I sat up and pulled a pillow into my lap. "I should probably go call my mom and tell her where I've been."
She nodded, while staring and smiling at her phone the whole time.
I sighed and managed to pull my body off the couch. I dialed my Mom's number and found myself wandering around the room until she picked up.
"Hey, honey." She said with a sigh of relief. "I've been waiting for you to call me all day. So how did dress shopping go?" She didn't seem worried about me anymore.
"I was late to Katie's and I ruined our plans. We're just going to shop later today." I looked at the clock to see that it was already 12:45. Wow I've wasted most of my day already!
"And I'm guessing your still there right?"
"Yes."
"Alright. Well have fun today!"
"Will do."
"Good. Love you!"
"Love you, Bye!"
The phone call ended and to my surprise, Katie was making breakfast for us. (Well now Lunch since we got up so late! Brunch!)
"I love your gooey relationship that you have with your mom," She said, sticking a strawberry in her mouth. "That's something me and my mom will never have."
I looked at her. "I don't know. We're just really close and she has been supporting me a lot with dancing and stuff. I'm finally getting pretty serious about it." I reached for some blueberries as she finished off the pancakes she was making.
"Yeah, you're really good! But let's eat; we have BIG plans for today!"
