Ch.1: The Quest

It was a warm, sunny day in Inkopolis Square. The day had just started, and it was time for the daily announcements. The announcements were given by the pop super stars, Callie and Marie—also know as the Squid Sisters.

"Good day to all Fresh Inklings!" said Callie, filled with joy and enthusiasm. "It's the Squid Sisters coming at you LIVE from Inkopolis Square." Marie added. "Here are the current Regular Battle stages!" Callie stated. The TV screen behind the two showed Walleye Warehouse, and Urchin Underpass. They then showed the current Ranked Battle stages. "Remember! The two stages for the battles only last for no more than 2 hours." Marie informed. "That's all for today! Remember..." Callie trailed. "Stay Fresh!" the two girls said together in unison. With that, the daily announcement ended.

I wanted to go ahead and rank up my level by doing some Turf Wars, and some Splat Zones... but, I think it was time. It was time for me to go ahead and investigate this distressed looking elderly man, that I've seen ever since I moved to the Square.

I went up to the man, and before even greeting him, he sounded panicked—struggling to choose the correct words. "T-the... O-octarians..." he managed to blurt out. "Sir... Are you alright?" I question, my tone a bit worrisome. "Yes, yes... I'm just fine, boy-o." He stated. "...so... You're Agent 3! My, my!" He said in awe. "Whoa, whoa, whoa... What? An Agent? For who—for what?" I questioned, confused. "Just... come with me, lad." The man said. "O-okay." I agreed, nervously. Now I felt like I was distressed.

I followed the old man into a drain. How, you may ask? Squid form. I used my ability as a human/squid hybrid. (I'm an Inkling) To turn into a squid, and easily slide through the tight space.

I found myself looking around at a strange, ancient looking place—apparently called; "Octo Valley." After a while of looking around in curiosity, the old man explained what was going on. "Look boy-o, the Octarians with the help of the enslaved Ocotlings, and their leader; DJ Octavio have stolen many Zapfish, and most importantly The Great Zapfish." He started. "...your job is to go through levels with Octariaan who shoot slimy—luckily slow—balls." He added. "Throughout you journey, Sheldon will supply you with weapons that you will need to go through a level. Right now, I give you the Hero Shot." After his explanation, he gave me the weapon. I felt so honored. "Oh! Almost forgot! You can upgrade your weapon. Also, in each level you enter, there are hidden scrolls. Some in crates, and some you must splat an Octarian." He finished.

Cap'n Cuttlefish led me to the first level. "To enter—squid form. I will put a audio piece on your Hero gear, so I can guide and navigate your way through a level. Good luck, boy-o." With that. I went into the level, turning into squid form. When I landed on the spawn point, my eyes were looking straight into the eyes of an Octarian.

Uh-oh...
