-3rd Person POV-
Tyler had felt like he had been walking for hours when in reality, it's only been about one. After starting this walk, he thought he would have found a house, a cabin, or at least someone on a night hike. But apparently, luck just wasn't on his side tonight. It was about 9 o'clock at night now, clearly past sunset and pitch black. The only light to guide him was the moons shine.
-Tyler's POV-
"Well, this day has officially been complete shit. It honestly couldn't get worse at this point." I look up at the sky as I talk to myself. I sigh and continue my walk. I'm not even sure how far into the woods I went, but my guess is at least a mile and a half, if not more. My feet are killing me at this point in my combat boots. I guess stylish wasn't my best option today, seeing how I now smell like beer. Oh well. Best thing to do is keep walking. Once again looking around at my surrounds, my eye catches a soft light. I narrow my eyes a bit to make sure I'm not imagining things. I could faintly make out a soft orange/yellow light through the trees. "Oh thank you, Lord above!" I exclaim as I quickly start my speed walk toward the light.
Upon getting closer to the light, I notice it's not a normal house or cabin that I'm walking toward. It looks much bigger. Like... like a castle. But, why would there be a castle out in the middle of the woods? With someone living in it no less? Oh well, no time to dwell on it much more. It's f***ing cold as hell out here and I'm ready to get away from the cool autumn air. I pick up my pace a bit more, pretty much running to the large castle, ignoring the sign that is posted nearby. After reaching the front step, I quickly bang my fist against the door, hoping that the light upstairs wasn't just left on while everyone slept. As I wait, I look to the side of me and raise an eyebrow. There was an odd looking gargoyle, just left of the door. "Weird place for weird architecture..."
I look back to the door as I hear a lock click. Quickly, I put on my best pleading smile, hoping that these people had a phone. The man to answer the door was... not what I was expecting. He didn't look anything like a butler, other than his outfit. Blonde, stringy hair with a large bald spot. Hunched over severely. Long face with dark circles under his eyes. He definitely looked like he could use a doctor, or at least some sleep. I quickly smile more after it had faltered once I had seen him.
"Hello! I seem to be having quite the night and I was hoping that I could perhaps use your phone? I would really appreciate it. I need to get home to check on my dog." I said, half lying. Something I've learned about people is that if you have a pet as an excuse, you can get out of almost any situation. The sickly man stared at me for a moment, seemingly looking me over before finally opening the door wider. I grin a bit wider as I make my way inside. "Thank you, sir!" He simply nods his head as I pass by him. I hear the door shut behind me.
Of course, I was unaware that stepping into this castle would completely change my life.
