Chapter 8 : Where is Allen ? (Part 2.)

The rest of the day was quite calm for Eleana. She had managed to finish up all the tests she had to run during morning, so her afternoon was just about handing the right paper work to officers who would come and ask for their test results.

She was thinking about taking a nap when Captain Singh entered her and Barry's lab, a pile of papers in his hands.

"Callygan, Allen, I need you two to run some more tests on the Jelkin case." He said, looking around the lab, probably searching for Barry.

Eleana was about to answer but was soon cut off by Singh.

"Where's Allen ?" He frowned.

Panicked, Eleana came up with the first excuse that popped up in her mind.

"Uh, he's out to get me some, uh painkillers."

"Painkillers ?" The captain looked confused.

"For, uh, period pain, you know." She offered him a weak smile.

"Yeah, okay, I don't want any details. Just hurry up witht those tests, I need them as soon as possible."

He didn't let her a chance to respond and left the room. Eleana facepalmed herself. She really did come up with the lamiest excuse ever. But since the Captain seemed to believe it, it didn't really matter.

She sighed before getting back to work, the sooner these tests would be done, the sooner she could go home and let her tired body fell into her bed.

A few hours later, Eleana was awaken by the buzzing of her phone. She had fallen asleep waiting for tests results, which were all ready now.

She yawned before getting up to pick up the papers from the printer. She would put them on the Captain's desk on her way home.

She looked over at her phone to see Iris had sent her a text.

Free tonight for drinks? - Iris

Eleana thought about it for a minute. She was quite tired, and wanted to sleep, but she was also in a mood for drinks with Iris. After debating with herself during a few minutes, she deciced to text back Iris.

Sure thing, I will meet up with you at Jitters. - Eleana

She didn't wait for an answer, grabbed her things and left the lab. She made sure to give the tests results to the Captain and left the station, heading for her favorite coffee shop.

A few minutes later, Eleana arrived at Jitters. She was about to enter the coffee shop, when someone shoved her.

"Hey, look where you're going dude!" She yelled at some figure whose face was masked under a large hoodie.

The person didn't say anything or didn't move, they just stood there.

"Are you okay ?" Eleana tried to have a better look at the stranger's face but she stopped when she heard a very familiar voice.

"Hey girl !" Iris said as she walked towards her friend.

Eleana turned around to greet Iris with a smile, and then turned back to the figure, who had already left. She looked around but there was no sign of them.

"Who was that ?"

"I don't know, I didn't see their face." But deep inside, Eleana felt like this figure was familiar, as if she knew them.

"Well that's one creepy dude if you want my opinion."

"Tell me about it." Eleana gave her friend a warm smile, before offering her arm. "Shall we ?"

Iris answered with a smile before linking her arm to her friend's. Eleana was glad she had accepted Iris offer, she could use a drink.
