Asalaamu Alaikum

I am a Muslim, what does this mean? To me it means my heart belongs to Allah(SWT), it means I am a human being whose religion happens to be ISLAM. Why is that so wrong?

I have not been subjected to any prejudiced views, but that does not mean they are not there. I once read "if you want to learn about islam, go study islam, do not study the muslims. Islam is perfect Muslims aren't." I believe that to be extremely true. As a muslim we grow up learning to put Allah(SWT) first , but we are also human and we have our faults, how can any one base there views on a religion by studying the people following it? no human is perfect, God never made us perfect, we are bound to make mistakes, and yes we will sin along the way but its what faith we have in our hearts that make us repent and beg Allah(SWT) for forgiveness.

I am A Muslim, but i am not a perfect human Being.

I grew up in a household where we had freedom but we were taught to never abuse our freedom, we were taught that allah is all knowing and that we must live everyday with Allah(SWT) in our hearts and on our minds, and i for one will never say that i am a perfect muslim. The hijab I wear so happily now, was not always on my head. I grew up wanting the long straight hair and the perfectly styled looks, looking back on my youth i would not change who I was because it made me who I am today.

Islam is not only my religion, it is my way of life. Many people have asked me why do you pray 5 times a day, they feel it is too much. My response, How can there ever be to much? I am so lucky that i can turn to my maker 5 times a day begging for my forgiveness, I can turn to my maker 5 times a day and know he is there for me when my burdens feel to much, and I believe that those 5 daily prayers allows me to be closest to my maker and know he will only test me to the best of my ability. so how is thanking our maker, our lord , too much? To me there will never be enough for he is all knowing and all merciful.

*This is based purely on my own views and opinions so please do not pull apart my religion and faith. I was brought up to respect every religion and faith as only god can judge us, please allow me the same respect*
